Maybe? It didn't really make that much sense to me either, but...

How does that relate to reproduction?

Well not necessarily in that much detail but the mechanics are somewhat sound.

Mm... I didn't realize that mortals had to do something like... that... to make more of them.

They don't have to, science has started to present alternate ways. However that is what's normally done.

I don't blame you. It's always confusing the first time you hear about it,and granted you didn't really hear about it properly.

School, books, their parents or someone else explaining it when they get curious...
