[He hadn't expected to leave, and he hadn't expected to come back, either. Not that he remembered this place when he was there. But it was a shock to wake up again in a mortal body, with the phone sitting next to his bed as if he had never left.]

[He stared at the calendar on the phone. A week? That's how long he was gone? That… he'd have to talk to his boss about missing a week of work.]

[But what he had seen when he was back there… it was too much. Too painful, and he groped around for his pillow, knocking his phone to the floor, turning on the video. He pulled his pillow to his chest, starting to cry.]

[The video flicks on to show part of the underside of Ryu's bed as well as part of the ceiling. Ryu is visible on the edge of the screen, though he's curled up into a ball and his voice is muffled and choked with tears.]

Why? Why do they do this? I don't understand. Elina… that mortal… I'll kill him. I'll kill him for what he did to Cray and Nina. If… if he ever shows up here, I'll kill him then, too. I can't… there's nothing else for someone like him…

[That was a voice that Gaignun was bracing himself never to hear again though kinda pleased to be proven wrong. Still...the words being spoken were very disturbing.]

Ryu? Is that you?

[amnesiadragon]

[He jolts at hearing that voice - something inside of him, in the back of his memory, stirs, but he can't figure out what it is. After a moment, he pieces what he needs to say together.]

Room... 712. In the hotel.

[amnesiadragon]

[He peers over at his dropped phone, eyes puffy with tears.]

Went back.

[amnesiadragon]

[After a moment, he reaches over and picks up the phone, his voice still hoarse as he speaks.]

Yes.

Ah'm on me way. Dunna' ye move.

[Click.

A few minutes later, there is a Mami knocking on your door.]

What happened? Where did...

Never mind. Where are you.

Had a rough time of things, I take it.

It's open.

[It's not like he has anything to steal. In fact, except for a few changes of clothes, he hasn't bought anything aside from his sword. But he doesn't feel like getting up right now.]

... Yes. It... what he did to her was horrible.

... My room. I'm not going anywhere for a while.

[DYNAMIC ENTRY!

... except not. Mami just creaks the door open and, upon seeing Ryu's state, runs straight over, sits down nearby, and very gently places a hand on his head. Yes, she is checking for a fever.]

Wha' happened ta' ye, Ryu?

...Do you want some company? [He'll come over even if Ryu says no. The poor kid has obviously had a shock of some sort.]

[No fever, just upset. But the hand on his forehead is calming him down a little.]

... I went back home. Things are... bad. The Empire is trying even harder to find me, and one of the Empire's officials was... trying to create a new type of sacrifice for the Hex Cannon and used Nina's sister...

[He winces, not sure why he suddenly feels a rush of grief on top of the one he already has.]

... Yes. Please.

[He could use some comfort right now. :( ]

[Don't worry little dragon, papa's coming.]

Alright. I'll be there in a moment. [And true to his word, he's knocking a few minutes later]

It's not locked.

[Because really there's nothing to steal. Ryu's managed to sit up and wipe his face a little by this point, though.]

[He steps in and quietly shuts the door behind himself. Walking over, he sits down beside Ryu.]

What happened?

[Immediately after seeing the feed? Sorry Ryu, but there's a knock on your door.]

I... I went back. And while seeing my friends was good... I...

[He takes a deep breath.]

Endless live forever. That's what we do, that's why we're called Endless. Mortals don't, they die. That's how things are supposed to go. But this... official from the Empire... he took Nina's sister and turned her into an Endless. He... he mutilated her. He added body parts and let them grow through an entire building. And we had to cut through her organs to even get to her.

... And there was nothing we could do. If we let her live, she would have been used as a sacrifice to power the Hex Cannon. So... so Cray killed her with the Dragonslayer. But the one who did it to her got away...

[He looks like he's about to be sick.]

[... ? He lifts his head a bit.]

It's open.

[Oh...poor Ryu. Gaignun is going to do the only thing he can do at this point, hug him as an attempt to comfort. Words won't work here as much as he'd like.]

That's awful...

Oh, Ryu... Ah'm so sorry.

[She just keeps running her hand through his hair, trying to calm him down. The poor little one...] I dunna' know all o' what ye be talkin' abou', but...Ah'm sorry, jus' th' same.

[Sorry that he went through that, that is.]

[His breathing is calming down a little bit, and he curls up against her. She's warm, and safe, and so is he. He can figure out what to do now, and he can try to leave those scenes behind for a while.]
