What effect, if any, does the passage of time here have on us?

I don't necessarily mean what we do in the time that passes here. That's completely irrelevant. I'm talking about aging and other things of that nature. Normally, I wouldn't even entertain the idea that it would be different, but the fact that death isn't permanent here is making me consider it.

If we assume that there's some sort of conscious entity behind our presence here, then it's clear that it wants us alive. I wouldn't say that we're immortal, exactly, as people do die when they are killed, but they're resurrected without consequence a short time later.

What, then, will happen if we're stranded here for a significant length of time? We have no idea how long the investigation will take, nor do we know what will be required of us once we have more information. There is the possibility of being returned to where we came from, but it seems completely random as to when it happens, and it seems as though when we're returned it's as we were never gone-not only with regard to our position in time, but our physical and mental states, as well.

So, do we age normally? Or are we locked into the physical age that we were upon arrival? It would be a fascinating subject to research if I had the proper resources, but there are, of course, more pressing matters to attend to.

Speaking of which, has there been any progress on the investigation into the Church of Three? I haven't heard a word about it since shortly after it was brought up. Weren't there people intent on investigating it?

Unfortunately, one of those volunteers was our resident serial killer. Furthermore, my own investigation has been into different leads due to the very appearance of enthusiasm you cite, so I'm not aware of how that branch of the investigation is faring.

Look at it this way. If you're over 50 and still look like you're in your mid-20s... You can score a lot of tail.

I wouldn't be too surprised if whoever brought us here could manipulate how much we age. After all, some of us like myself are dead in our homeworld and you don't see us decomposing now, do you?

As for the church investigation, being dead for a week didn't help but it's difficult to get to the higher ranking members of the church too.

I doubt you want to hear me talk to begin with, but I've considered the subject myself. I don't need to explain to you that being a Servant locked me into the age I was when I died. All I can tell you with certainty is that being in a human body now feels notably different in a few different ways; whether I'm aging or not has yet to be seen, as I haven't yet even been here a year.

I think it's too soon to tell. But that might be my personal appreciation on the matter. Aging is not something you can explore in just a few months, or even years. Perhaps the children would know better...

True enough, I suppose. I was speculating more out of professional curiosity than anything, so I wasn't expecting to receive a concrete answer.

That was something I had in mind, yes. Children and teenagers would be the easiest groups to study, given that the effects are most easily observable with them.

Well, that's consistent with what we've already observed, at least. Everyone who's died here has been brought back to life afterward, so it stands to reason that people who would have died back where they came from would be revived as well.

Somehow, this fails to surprise me. I suppose I'll get a status update from someone who isn't a psychotic murderer sooner or later.

What have you been investigating, then?

It's possible we'll be here long enough for it to matter. From what I can tell, we've only started to learn things about this place. Who knows how complicated it will be once we manage to properly grasp the threads and start pulling?

Of course, even if it turns out to be fairly straightforward, I have a professional interest in this sort of thing.

It would be possible to establish it from them, yes. Although I wonder if they themselves realize the pass of time, or give it any relevance.

But those I spoke to at the start indicated it had not been terribly long that they were here.

We can either assume that time moves normally and when we go back, we grow older. Or we can assume that we're frozen in time here. ...Or we can forget the whole thing ever happened and move on with our lives.

That generally does tend to be the case, especially with things of such an arcane nature. This would be a difficult matter even with the proper equipment.

I am a scholar, though it's less relevant here than it is in my world.

It could turn out to be important somehow, certainly. I'm not sure how it would relate to the case as a whole, but it'd be interesting if it did.

I suppose they could always take pictures of themselves every few months and see if anything's changed.
