[018: Video]
[When the video flickers on, the picture is mostly obscured by static, but it soon starts to become clearer; a young girl around fifteen years old, who can be recognized as April, is forcefully shoved out of a old building and collapses onto the ground. She winces and pushes herself to look at the group of people at the entrance of the building, though it's obvious that she has to blink through tears, and two of the people at the front of the group hold a resemblance to April. When April speaks, her voice is quiet and rasped, as if she had been screaming for a while before.
'M-mum, dad, please don't do this, I-'
'Be quiet. You're no daughter of ours. You're no better than the monsters in the wastelands, so you should go and die like one.'
At the man’s, her father's, words, the expression on the April's could be described as utterly heart-broken and hurt. She doesn't move until the group moves back into the building and close the door on her, and only then does she collapse back to the ground as she sobs.
The feed is filled with static for a moment, before it shows another scene; this time with an older April sitting at the bedside of an old man. Judging by how weak the old man looks and how April is trying hard not to break down crying, it's clear the old man is dying. But the old man just smiles weakly up at her as he reaches up to pat her head.
'... Y'know I saw you as a daughter, right? Even though... you're a nervous wreck half the time and you're stupidly reckless, I... still thought of you as my own kid...' The old man chuckles and lets his hand drop limply to his side, while April hiccups as more tears run down her face.
'So... keep fighting, okay? R-remember what I taught you...'
'Q-Quinton, don't...'
'I'm sorry that I can't stick around for longer, April. But... those last seven years with you were some of the best years of my life... Thank you...' Quinton gives her one last smile as he closes his eyes, and April is left sitting by him as he dies, not bothering to wipe away her tears.
Static fills the feed one last time, and it again shows April as she looked in the previous memory, along with eyes still red from crying, as she gets ready to leave a settlement of some sort. Though she pauses in her preparations as a tall woman with black hair walks over to her.
'Hey, are the rumors about you going off to to try to rebuild the wastelands true?'
'I-I, uh, yeah, t-they are...' April gives a squeak as the woman clamps her hands on her shoulders, her expression suddenly serious.
'Well, I'm gonna be coming with you. Nice to meetcha, April, I'm Michelle.' Michelle gives April a grin as she blinks up at her, before letting a very faint, but visible smile appear on her face. And this is where the memory ends and the image on the screen changes.
[The video soon flickers onto April, staring at the screen with wide eyes as tears run down her face, her expression shocked and horrified. She quickly realizes that the feed is recording her now, and so with a muffled curse as she quickly wipes her eyes, she turns off the feed.]
