I am ruling a country at eleven. I have been in war. I dislike being treated as a child.
I know, it's frustrating that when you've done all those things that an adult would shy away from, they still treat you as if you can do nothing and have done nothing.
Shall I really have to wait another seven years to be respected?
Legally yes, though some might be persuaded with displays of mature attitude.
In the times where I come from, you are an adult when you can take on adult responsibilities and behave thus. So it shall be, so it is.
Then your times are wiser than this place, in some respects.
As to that, I gather it is the intention to allow those below a certain age to act as children for as long as possible. They seem to believe that children are 'harmed' by becoming adult too soon, at least according to the books I have read.
When someone is already an adult, is it not more harmful to continue to treat them as a child?
I agree. Dismissing the young as unintelligent or incapable is a fool's action. If someone is an adult in mind but not in body, that does not make them less of an adult.
That is quite the sensible approach.

Other then that I have little other advice to offer beyond 'wait patiently' and 'try not to get too annoyed at the head pats'.

Like the human world, right? 18 or 21 or whatever it is here is weird.
What could possibly require so many years of study?
I guess it's just how they do things.
Most children are - the question is whether or not they deserve to be treated as adults.
