On a subject not related to Diarmuid-nii.

What holidays do you have at home? There's talk of Christmas here, of course, but I realize that not everyone may have a similar holiday in their world. I'd love to hear more about different cultures and religions - it's one of my greatest areas of interest.

Also, should we have a Christmas party, assuming that circumstances allow it?

We celebrated the solstice, specifically. From what I understand, the concept has a passing similarity to the modern idea of Christmas. Though people these days seem to think it of far greater significance than we did, which is saying a lot.

Yes, I still understand the language. I wasn't exactly expecting it, however.

It's a fairly simple day to mark, I assume that would be part of the reason why. Having this much attention given to a holiday was usually reserved for Samhain.

That's a broad question.

Hm, aside from the typical holidays, like Christmas and New Year's, Le Quatorze Juillet and Mardi Gras are the only ones I can think of. [ Because they involve food. A lot of it. ]

Valentine's Day is a nightmare in France.

La FĂȘte Nationale, Bastille Day is what English-speakers call it.

Yeah, no one calls it 'Bastille Day' where I come from.

Avoid Paris, unless you like overpriced everything.

It does seem a bit...ah, what's the word...predominant.

You have no idea. [ He laughs. ] I had people trying to rip me off, and I'm from Marseille.

Peculiar. I wonder how that might have happened.

Halloween's the one around Samhain, right? That seems like a strange thing to do.

No, I wouldn't count this.

It's a necessary skill, unless you're rich, or like to get ripped off.

As annoying as having to remember an entire new set of holidays to begin with?
