I suppose I'm as qualified as anyone. I'm the heiress to the throne back at home, but that doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot. When the time is right, every heiress is expected to challenge the Empress, Her Imperious Condescension, for the throne. No one has succeeded in a very, very long time. She's the last one.

The system where I'm from is very harsh. It's a caste system based on the color of one's blood. Red and brown are low, purple is high. I wanted to change it, more than anything.

How does the Empress rule? What is the treatment of the lower castes as things are now?

To say she rules with an iron fist is putting it lightly. She's a conqueror, out to expand her territory to the ends of the universe. She kills anyone who dares disagree, sending her brigades of Archeradicators and Threshcecutioners to thin out the population of anyone who doesn't believe as she does.

The lower castes? Culled as soon as possible, unless she can use them. When she does, it's...it's cruel.

It is. She's...we're supposed to be as close as two can be, genetically, but we are polar opposites in how we think and act. I want to set things right.

The major states around in my world are almost all representative democracies. Germany and the EU, the US, Japan, Russia...there's plenty of military dictatorships in the parts of the world that got hit harder by Second Impact, but most of them have been bombed into nothing by now.

Is that an effective form of government for you?

People aren't still starving en masse or blowing each other up, mostly, so I guess so.

You have no higher aspirations for the state of your country than that?

Hey, I love Germany, but my calling is outside any one country or politics. As long as I can live in peace in between fighting monsters, I say more power to whomever has it.

I would like to think that I inspire loyalty, but I am not so naive. I keep my people alive and in return I ask that they keep the assassination attempts to a reasonable number. Thus-far it has worked rather well.
