[Madoka awoke this morning, ready to face the day when she realized something was off. Specifically this wasn't her dorm room at Mahora Academy. It sure seemed to be a dorm room. Just not hers. Which begs the question, how did she get here?

Glancing around, she notices a pretty fancy phone nearby and, after checking to make sure there wasn't someone around to ask, figured the owner won't mind if she called a friend to get herself situated. She quickly types in the number and hits send. She starts talking the minute it picks up, not noticing that the phone didn't accept the number and instead just dialed everyone in its directory...]

Hey, Sakurako! Did you or Misa play a prank on me? I'm in someone else's dorm room here and I don't even remember how it happened! Last thing I remember was you, Misa, and me going out to karaoke like usual, but I was pretty sure I went to sleep in my bed afterwards. I don't even recognize which dorm I'm in...

Okay, good, I don't think I'd be able deal if that was on top of everything else...

So how do we get these things?

Usually you have to get attacked by Shadows.

Why would my shadow attack me?

Oh, I think I get it... Is that what the enemies are called here then? Like Slimes and such? They're Shadows?

And what, we just run around town and they'll spring a random encounter on us?

Isn't that kinda dangerous for the folks not involved in this game thing? Or do they not attack NPCs like most games?

[lunch_ticket_millionaire]

The NPCs are all sealed in these weird floating coffins at night, so they'll be safe.

[kugimin]

...Well that's good, I guess. And they only come out at night then?

[lunch_ticket_millionaire]

The Shadows? Yeah, just during the Dark Hour. It's this extra bonus hour at midnight.

[kugimin]

I don't think an hour full of monsters can exactly be called 'bonus,' but I think i get what you mean now...

[lunch_ticket_millionaire]

Well, I mean, it's the only time we can get XP. And it's a bonus hour because only Persona users get to have it!

[kugimin]

Alright then, so we fight things during the Dark Hour, get XP, and then what?

Profit?

[lunch_ticket_millionaire]

Right! Then your Persona levels up and it learns new attacks!

[kugimin]

Okay, but what about us? Do we gain levels? Or powers?

[lunch_ticket_millionaire]

Nope, just the Persona. But we've got it all the time, so it's almost the same thing.

[kugimin]

Alright, so I guess I should definitely figure out how to get mine!

...Do I fill out a form or something? Or look for some magical item?

[lunch_ticket_millionaire]

Nah, you just go running around during the Dark Hour until you get attacked by something, and then your Persona will show up and save you! That's how I got mine, even though I didn't really notice it until after I got back home.

...That sounds kinda dangerous. You sure there isn't another way?

Maybe practicing with an ancient sensei, or meditating, or standing under a waterfall?

Maybe! But I don't think there are any ancient senseis or waterfalls in Prospero.

[kugimin]

Well what about a Dojo with a wise old man in it? They don't have to be ancient, just, you know, Mr. Miyagi-looking. Doing some house chores sounds safer than getting attacked by monsters.

I don't think it works that way here.

Fine, I'll go fight some horrible dangerous monsters then. Let me just see what weapons I can find....
