[Kid's been quiet and out of the way for a while. He's mostly been doing odds and ends for the hotel or snatching away what he can of some spirits when nobody's lookin'. Whatever power everyone else kept talking about, it seemed like he was a late bloomer. So he's been minding his own business, but all the commotion this month got his attention. So he whips out that newfangled gadget again to see what's up.]

What's with all the talk about love in the air? Can't turn this thing on without hearing something or other about it. Is it like last time, with the whole 'I suddenly have family' thing...? [He looks a little unamused, to say the least.]
[Action - Forwarded to Dark Hour.]
[Took him a good, long while, but Kid finally got a hold of a good substitute for his lifelong friend. Hammer was pretty unwieldy and cheap-lookin', but it was what his pocket change could afford. Now he's standin' still right in the middle of the street, littered with dozens upon dozens of coffins, brandishing his new friend out in the open. It's been too long since he'd swung at a monster or two...and he'd feel a lot less terrible about smashing these Shadows than the fauna of the wilds. This is his chance to shine, and get an idea of how much trouble was out at night.]
[Turns out those creatures were all but happy to provide. He sees a bunch of small fry take notice of him and start to circle him. He don't miss a beat, swinging his hammer at one of 'em. Pops the Shadow good, it letting out a little screech before it exploded in a puff of black smoke. At least, it looked like smoke to the Kid. He takes another swing at the runts, and they quickly scurry off into dark corners he couldn't see. Kid can't help but have a grim smile. This wasn't so bad, he thought. With how much he was used to roughin' up things twice his size, maybe he wouldn't need that mysterious little power's help.]
[Course, it don't take too long for those Shadows to kick that idea out of his head. Before he knows it, a bigger one shows up, lookin' twice as mean. Kid takes another swing at it. 'Stead of poppin', it barely flinches before suddenly knockin' the Kid aside. He tumbles and lands on his rear, but it ain't gonna keep him down. 'Course, like a bunch of Peckers swarming in for a kill, a couple dozen more of those small runts started takin' advantage of the Kid's fall. They start whacking and scratching at him, opening up a few cuts on his face and decorating his tan with a bit of red. Finally, one does something weird before it was topped off with a small spark of fire, burning the Kid's arm a bit as he tried to double back.]
[Finally, Kid starts to get the idea he's outnumbered and lookin' very appealing to the Shadows out on the street tonight. Odds are more were gonna keep popping up faster than he could take them down. He was tough, but he ain't that tough. So he makes a run for it. If you happen to be out and about in the Dark Hour tonight, you might catch Kid runnin' and a few angry lookin' Shadows hot on his tail.
