[ What better way is there to deal with woes but to focus on a task, right?

And so David decided he should at least take care of the Shadows troubling people, so during the Dark Hour he is out all across town with his new toy. Or rather, actual weapon, considering he has much more than one of those toy kiddy slingshots; his own slingshot. Hamesh Avanim. And even though it's not exactly the same as back home, it still works easily to take out Shadows - with a little help from his angel Persona as well. It's much easier to just continue doing this, to help people out in a way, to not have to think of anything else.

You might come across him slinging rocks at Shadows with said slingshot or his Persona Michael.

... Or you might find a rock flying riiight past your head - a decently sized one too, the kind that could knock you out pretty easily - only to hit a Shadow a little distance away from you. It's okay, David's aim with his own slingshot is perfect, so he'd never actually hit someone on purpose.

(Feel free to yell at him for it, though.) ]

I mean no she does have confidence that David wouldn't honestly aim at a person--or her at least they were on friendly terms last time she checked--but it it's still... UHHHHHH basically yep.]

Yes, I am just fine. While it is relatively peaceful here, I still find that I wish to keep my own skill with a weapon from growing dull.

I agree. Furthermore, this ensures these Shadows will not bother people who are unable to defend themselves during this hour. [ and he's fighting away his sorrow, uwooo.. ]

[ There's a pause, since.. well, he is troubled, but he isn't one to quickly share that either. Then again, Joan is someone fairly close to him in this place - one he even felt about as a little sister of sorts for some time, so..

[Oh. Oh I see. David's testing his luck, versus the luck of those whom he may be taking a close-shot at.

The problem with skill is that it can only account for so much. If a non-target moves suddenly, that grazing shot can become something worse. Likewise a sudden movement by an ambushed target can create a total miss where a killing blow would have been before.

Luck is as important as any amount of skill, in the end.

It's a truth especially harsh for those whom fortune chooses not to smile upon...]

[Which is to say Lancer spins around at the sound of something behind him, turning to face this new opponent and shifting the position of his body off ever so slightly compared to where he was when David launched the rock...]

[Okay all that buildup was basically for nothing because the rock sails past him anyway and hits the Shadow with a satisfying ker-crunch BUT it does clip his ear thanks to that unwise movement. Just gonna stare at David for a moment now.]

[ He should make a mental note to himself to not try this around people who have not quite as good of a Luck stat as he has. (FREAKING A, BABY.) So for the slightest moment when he watches Lancer move at the wrong time he tenses up, knowing there's nothing he can do about it by now either way, but then luckily in the end it does at least fly past him. ]

... Sorry. [ At least the apology sounds genuine enough - David's a nice guy! He steps closer to Lancer, lowering his slingshot. ]

But then he lifts his slingshot a little again, if not just to look at it once more. ]

Yes. I have noticed everyone in this place has gotten such a gift. Although I am grateful for the opportunity, considering it is much easier to fight with the weapon I am used to. Surely you understand that much as well.

Indeed it came through that message. I was a little sceptical at first, but I figured it could not do much harm to at least try asking to get it back.

[ Normally David is actually pretty good in battle, pretty observant of what's happening around him as well.. but this case is different, when he's fighting more out of a sense of not wanting to think at all, to lose those thoughts. And so he is hit fairly clean against the head by the rock, thankfully it wasn't too big so it's nothing that could knock him out, by he still moves his head at the source--

... and ends up staring. .. Ah, this is.. awkward, yes, and he's not entirely sure what to say, so he just stares as if the hit from the rock too his speaking capabilities. ]
