[Waking up in a strange place was one thing. It was a place that was filled with the oddest of scents, so much so that the air itself felt different. The people around him were dressed in gaudy, revealing outfits, or clothes that constricted the body fiercely. He was lucky that so far, he had not come across any cars. Instead, his curious poking at the phone in his hands had caused the video to turn on. He was crouching on the ground, knees tucked up to his chest as he tosses the phone from hand to hand, seeing what the buttons do. So far, a few things have appeared on the screen.

The feed twirls a little, showing first him, then people around him - a woman in green; a small boy. There are the faint sounds of voices-

Mom, what's he doing?
I think he's from some fair or other. Probably a street performer.
Maybe he's escaped from an asylum!

For his part, Aengus paid it no heed, and when the dizzying twirl stopped, he had it set on his knees. Ah. This looks like it is doing something at least. Hm... The people had scattered, leaving him alone in what appeared to be a park. Curiosity only goes so far, after all. A look of concern was set upon his brow, though he tried to mask it with his usual winning smile.]

This is a place of which mine eyes have never before gazed upon.

All the women who look upon him do feel the stirrings of love within their breast, and thus obsess over him despite his unwillingness to deal with those who have been cursed into false feelings. This is the curse of the love spot, that mark that he bears upon his handsome face.

So a 'Persona' is some type of supernatural guardian... I see.

Not really. They're more like... dark blobs that will attack anyone they see and they only appear for one hour. We call them 'Shadows'.

How can such a thing be but a mild trouble to those who know of them?

Because of the spells they can use. Some can attack you with fire, some can attack you with electricity, and some can attack you with ice or wind or water... Plus, there are some that can make you unable to move or make you turn on your allies...

They're pretty dangerous for blobs.

Perhaps these are but cursed souls, then... Entrapped and forced into such a task. I have seen things similar in the past.

Possibly, but none of us know for sure what they are.

[And then she blink and just... stares.]

[He sounds as if it's entirely ordinary.]

A small puddle of water. It is a rather interesting tale.

Her name was Étaín, and she was the second wife of my half-brother upon my fathers side, he who raised me and was named Midir. His first wife, Fuamnach, a witch of the Tuatha De, grew jealous of her and thus cursed her to turn into a pool of water. Eventually, that water did become a worm and thus a butterfly; yet Midir still did not know her.

O her deceptions! The story of Étaín spans many years, for Fuamnach's curses and lies were bitterly cast upon us.

[Blink. Blink. Then she frowns faintly.]

W-whoa... She does sound pretty horrible. Doing that to someone just because she's jealous...

The wiles of men and women are many, whether magical or otherwise. 'tis a natural part of some to be cruel in their jealousy.

Midir took the delicate butterfly as a friend, and allowed it to accompany him - but in turn, Fuamnach sent the wind to throw her far away. A simple butterfly cannot resist the force of the wind and it was to I that she was carried. Poor soul, she was so shaken by the events that she had to stay with me for a long time.
