Video/Action if near the shop

[Ingrid's sitting in a small coffee shop, hands around a steaming mug. She's looking rather perkier than usual.]

It looks as though I've missed quite a few event this last week or so. I apologize, but it seems you younger folk weren't so bad at taking care of it. Even though two of you were kidnapped. [A pause as she sips her drink.] Are you two alright, by the way? I'd hate to hear two of my potential students are still shaken by the events.

Yes, students. It seems the local high school has given me a teaching position. I'm to take over a few science classes. I do hope to see many of you there. [Her tone implies that's more of an expectation than a hope.]

I'm also a little concerned that they allowed me the job considering my lack of credentials in this world. Have any of the rest of you encountered something like this yet?

At the very least, I'll attend unless completely incapacitated. Generally, showing up to classes tracking blood in is a bad idea, but otherwise you can expect me every day.

If you're incapable of coming, I'd rather you stay home and heal. I don't quite like my students dying because they pushed themselves to hard. Though I do expect a certain amount of dedication to my class.

[You humans and your coffee. Brilliant invention, that one. And today one glasses-wearing Lancer happened to be wandering by with a book under one arm and a cup of said coffee in his hand.]

...It wasn't just me, then? Truly, I'm still a little stunned--I secured a job without so much as any form of identification.

[Which he had counted as good fortune, considering he had arrived with absolutely no money whatsoever. Turned out that was kind of necessary in these places.]

[Ingrid gestures to the seat across from her, shaking her head.]

I'm not sure what I think about it. It might be working out well in some regards, but I wonder how far it reaches. Just who is getting what positions, and what could that mean for the rest us?

[Lancer sat down with a faint sigh, adjusting his glasses.]

I hadn't yet considered that. Though I assume they wouldn't just give any unknown newcomer a position of actual power. Fate forbid the city or country descend into utter chaos.

I was president of the student council at home - if it's possible to get the work sent home, I'll make up for what I can.

Excellent, I think we shall get along just fine in the classroom. But, ah, I can't recall ever catching your name.

More chaos that it's already in, you mean. Whether they give us power or not, I'm not too keen on just anyone off the street to be let into to working with children. They didn't even try to run my record and that's unsettling.

...I thought it's simple to get a part-time job here in America. [He haven't really try back home.]

[She chuckles.]

Now that's an attitude I like to hear. Your grade?

I would hope you would.

Getting a teaching position is vastly different from something part-time. For one, I should have had a record pulled on me. It's disturbing to think they aren't checking in on who they are allowing around children.

If they're not doing that, how do they know who's safe and reliable? Not that you're not going to hurt or be terrible, but you know what I mean!

That's exactly why I'm worried. Of course, with myself there you children have nothing to worry about. [Because she will not hesitate to curb stomp someone messing with her students.] But it makes you wonder where else these sort of lax regulations are being used.

A valid concern, yes. All in all, maybe this town's a little less than normal in the daylight as well.

Oh.... it is unfortunate I am too old for Scholam, I wouldn't mind attending.

Curiouser and curiouser, as some would say. I think it could bear investigation.

[Wryly] I'm always open for tutoring.

Sounds good. What are your instructions, and when should we meet?

I suppose so, yes. Though investigating quite literally day and night might eventually prove difficult.

[And she looks impressed.]

Eager, aren't we? If you truly want to learn, I'll need to find out what you already know and start from there. I dare say your education was different from what I'm used to. Give me some time to make up a sort of pre-test for you, shouldn't take me more than a night or two. I'll slip it in your room, and we can begin when you've completed it.

There's really no good solution to it, I admit. At least an eye should be kept on the situation, see what happens and take action if needed.

I have to agree with that. Though I think someone more suited to the country than myself and most people I know should likely monitor what goes on in the daylight.
