ITP: Hero Question
[Video]
[For some reason today, Shirou felt like pouring what's left of his broken existence into someone else besides Issei and Saber.
In layman's term, Shirou's feeling talky talky today about his idiocy (Rushing into a Shadow battle to save someone.]

What is a hero to you all?
[Still, asking a deep question like this is not Shirou at all.]

But it is not as simple as it sounds. Whether human or demigod, people are not selfless by nature. Becoming one who puts others before themselves without question is a path that will lead to pain no matter how successful they are. No matter how many lives one improves, there will always be failures, loss, and even betrayal.
In my own personal experience, it is an existence that is simultaneously worthwhile and yet full of suffering.
Upon my death in the Holy Grail War, I cursed and hated a world I'd once hoped to protect. Instead of dignity I faced death with bitter rage and wished from the bottom of my heart that I not be alone in my suffering.
Cursed?]
...what do you mean by that?
Exactly as it sounds. I met a miserable, agonizing, and dishonorable end thanks to Saber's Master as well as my own.
did
he
just
say.]
...What.
He's a he-
[Yeah this is the sound of his brain.
Breaking.]
I had assumed you would know--from Saber if not from Kiritsugu himself.
[...the part where Kiritsugu betrayed her.]
[They were kinda in a panic to try to find out things about golden dick back then.]
[Bitter? Despite his best efforts, you're damn right.]
[...he couldn't be that bad back then.
Could he.]
[Hey, this place wants honesty? It's getting honesty.]
I have to know.
What kind of person he was back then.
Or shall I speak of how the last thing I saw was my master and Kiritsugu Emiya, having apparently just negotiated my forced suicide?
[The quiet ones were always the ones that could show the most anger. Lancer was still calm, though in his voice was a clear undercurrent of the same rage and bitterness that had cursed all within his sight.]
Tell me, Shirou Emiya, what kind of person you believed him to be.
[There's a clatter as Lancer will suddenly see the phone dropping from Shirou's hand, judging from the change in point of view.
He could also see Shirou's face, which has surprise as well as denial written all over it.]
...I apologize. I shouldn't have spoken carelessly.
[hang on Shirou's world is being a bit broken right now.]
...N-no, its alright.
You look less than 'alright'.
[Who wouldn't be shocked at that revelation...]
