[He tries his hardest to compose himself. But then again, it's hard. Considering he was just about to get rid of the big boss back home.]

Err, the middle of the night - literally, as far as measuring time goes.

As far as why is concerned? Man I hate sounding like a crazy. [Ahem] The long and the short of it is that monsters'll pop up around then.

You don't sound crazy at all. [Jr. smiles in reassurance at the older woman.] Back in my world, monsters are pretty common.

It's the same for me to be honest. [There's slight shifting of her shoulders; a shrug.] Buuuuuuut, like I said. Everyone seems to come from a different kind of background.

[Taking note, he nods.] What kind of monsters are they?

Here? If they weren't actually dangerous, I'd say that they were an artist's work come to life and gone wrong. Lotsa shapes and sizes, all with a mask of some kind hidden away on their bodies.

[A beat, and she corrects herself.] The aforementioned artist would probably be one who's a pinch emotionally disturbed, as an aside.

Weird. Doesn't sound like any monsters I've seen back home. [Mask and hidden away bodies that show up during the night-time... Great.] Sounds kind of like a kid's nightmare, if you ask me.

[She laughs at that a little.] Yep, they really do. Or maybe a parent trying to scare their kid and keep them in line; stories of monsters that come out in the dead of night to scare kids who've stayed up past their bed-time!

Mn... Just that time seems to stop for everyone but us, for an hour, when the monsters come out. Guess that ranks pretty high on the weird-o-meter.

Oh, and it's pretty easy and/or cheap to find a job or lodging, but I'm not sure you'll have to worry about that. [Not that she was trying to patronize Jr., but she'd seen younger-looking kids than he enlist in the guard corps. Jr. could be a similar go-getter, after all!]

Well I won't deny that there's a lot of unused space all over the place, but I can assure you there's a functional library.
