[the video shows a teenager holding the phone out, a look on his face as though he's not sure he's doing this right. he's resting his hands on his knees to keep the phone from shaking, his back pressed against a wall. to anyone else who is staying in the Bayview Hotel, they may recognize the wallpaper. he's sending a message to every person in his contact list, saving him the trouble of trying to distinguish who may be who]

Sensei, Kato-san... If either of you receive this, please contact me as soon as possible.

[taking a breath then pressing his lips together, looking a little more serious now. the tone of his voice changes slightly]

... if whoever is behind this is watching, then just come out and tell me what you want.

[he waits a few more moments, looking as though he wants to say something else, before abruptly ending the message and sending it off]

Have you heard anything or noticed anything else since last night?

Not at all. If I hadn't seen last night for myself, I would say this is a perfectly ordinary city.

I haven't been out since I woke up, but... I should probably go look around. I'll see if I can get a better idea about where we are.

[He sinks down, still looking rather bothered by the whole thing.]

I guess all of this is real after all. Last night. Being here...

I looked around the general area earlier, mostly to get an idea of what was nearby. It's not Fuyuki City, but I didn't see anything particularly remarkable. Certainly nothing suspicious, at least.

It didn't look like Japan at all, from what I remember of last night. I'm going to have to look around more.

[Though the idea of going out on his own didn't make him feel comfortable, especially since he'd shown up so unexpectedly here.]

I'll contact you later tonight and let you know if I figure anything out. I won't go very far, but if you don't hear from me...

[Ainosuke trailed off then, not sure how to finish his thought. There were too many things that could happen.]

...If you're going to go out, I wouldn't advise you do so alone. We don't know when or if the environment will change like that again, and it would feel wrong of me to knowingly leave someone defenseless.

I'm not entirely defenseless.

[His voice is a bit quieter after that.] I wasn't sure if you'd be all right coming with me. But... ... you're right. I know I shouldn't....

My apologies, you're right. I hadn't meant to insinuate otherwise.

[He responded with a small smile, his words sincere. Ainosuke had admittedly been good to have at his back in a fight the night before, and Lancer was genuinely grateful.]

I wouldn't mind coming along. I'd like to figure this place out as well, and we don't know what else could be out there.

[Ainosuke could have stopped to ask the other if he was sure, but again, he trusted Lancer a great deal thanks to everything the other had done for him already. He looked a little happier once the other apologized to him.]

All right. ... I can meet you downstairs in probably five or ten minutes, then we can figure out what to do next.

[And with that, he's off to get ready and rush downstairs.]

[Lancer left his own room a few minutes later, waiting downstairs--he occupied himself by examining the phone he'd found upon arrival. It looked a bit beyond the technology he knew of, having come from winter 1994. It occurred to him that he hadn't thought to ask what year it was. Heroic spirits existed on a plane outside of time until they were summoned--it could have been any age he was called into, and Lancer would have thought little of it.]

[But for someone that was lost in more ways than one, he certainly didn't look it. Calm and composed as ever, he simply slipped the phone into his pocket and waited.]
