They're modified from what used to exist on this planet - um, the planet I was living on before I came here, that used to be Earth. Most of them are part human and something else, and they're stronger and tougher than humans were.

The planet is dead. Plants don't grow, animals can't survive. Humans only lived as long as they did because of technology. The sky is dark and grey, and Godo told me that once you get past the grey layer it's red. I didn't even know that it was blue once.
