[Some nights, the Dark Hour is noisier than others.]

[While the shadows normally remain silent unless actively attacking those able to wander the dark hour, on this night the port area all but resounds with the shrieks of an all-too familiar shadow. A Visceral Maya, bane of those who find themselves new to Prospero.]

[What's peculiar is that the vocalizations almost sound frustrated or scared, as much as a Shadow can emote such things.]

[And unfortunately for anyone with their phone on-hand, the source of the noise just started getting broadcast over the network. The camera, activated via falling-to-the-ground judging from the angle, shows a man pinning a very displeased Visceral Maya to a building with a stopsign while muttering to himself.]

-n't even die right when I kill 'em, huh? Bah, not like it's the weirdest thi- eh? What's this?

[He keeps the shadow pinned against the building, reaching down to pick up and subsequently peer into the phone as a lazy smile crosses his features.]

Well, yes. If you would recall when I said they take different forms and have different names? I know of one that manifests as a phoenix, another as a dragon, and some in more human forms like my own.

But, well...it's my own that is suddenly quite confusing me.

A-as it turns out, when I first summoned him, he...may or may not have introduced himself as Cu Chulainn.

[There is a brief moment that the murderhound's expression could only be described with the phrase "are you kidding me?", perhaps with an explicative for emphasis.]

[It was followed by a brief flash of irritation. Sure, there was a chance there'd be an imposter for just about anyone. But him? The Hound of Ulster?]

[Then logic, shockingly, crept into his thought processes. After all, it was just some odd summon, right? Nothing to get mad at a new acquaintance over, right?]

[But that cape... that fucking cape.]

[No. Focus. There was more going on than ~~copyright infringement~~some flashy imitator, here.]

...Well. I can tell you I never looked like that!

You got any idea why they are what they are, or why they look the way they do?

[Man, he bet Saber was laughing her ass off at that fake-Cu Chulainn... not to mention Goldie. Ugh.]

[Lancer looked like he wanted nothing more than to just sink into the floor and disappear.]

I can c-certainly tell you I neither chose the form in which my Persona manifested, prince of light, nor did I ever mean to offend you. I have no control over what my Persona is, I only fight alongside it.

Saber and Emiya did both mention he looked nothing like you.

[Lancer did seem in a fairly foul temper, though the other Lancer's reaction seemed to deflate the irritation somewhat.]

Bah. I'm almost disappointed - figured Emiya woulda gone along with the joke.

[Because the Emiya long-kick would have been a great stress-reliever...]

Guess you'll just have to deal with fighting alongside the real deal for a while. Maybe enough of that'll make the Persona-thing look like it should.

Why wouldn't I? You're Diarmuid of the Love Spot, first knight of the Fianna, aren't you? You can talk about the "prince of light" all you want, but calling you a slouch in battle would be a hell of an insult, wouldn't it?

Ah...really, just 'Diarmuid' is perfectly acceptable. And yes, it would not be arrogance to say I'm quite good at what I do. Still, I can't claim to be quite at your level.

Far as raw ability goes, it sounds like we're all on the same level here. Hell, you might actually have one up on me for now with that Persona thing.

[He shrugs.]

Point was that you're a heroic spirit in your own right. Guys like us, Saber, even those Archers. Whether we cross blades of join them, both parties are honored by the exchange. Ain't no such thing as a "level" when it comes to that.
