Action 1: [ Garviel is spending some time after the battle with the Death Arcana recuperating. He actually went to the hospital, being sensible, and is now sitting around in the hotel lobby reading books, with an enormous bandage wrapped around his side. Do you join him for a chat? ]

Video 1: [ Garviel appears on the screen, looking weary. ] So, tell me, did we learn anything of note about our foes here as yet? I'm a man who fights... I need to know what our thinkers and seekers are doing.

Oh hey, you're that guy who was yelling a lot and shooting his gun everywhere during the battle. You didn't die too, did you?

[ Garviel will head up to her room, two bottles of a fairly decent Merlot in hand. He got some help from his cohorts at the restaurant he works to figure out the proper accompaniment for beef, but wine is something the Astartes knows something about, unlike women. He knocks twice, rather hard on the door. ]

Saber? [ He asks, almost plaintively. He's just come from work, so he's wearing a white shirt, covered by a black vest, black tie, and black pants. His expression is serious, as always. ]

So you came, good. Come on, I just finished serving, so the food it's on its perfect temperature to be eaten. I trust the wine is right on the spot as well.

[ Garviel spares a glance for her, nodding once, and then looks into the room, clearly and quietly impressed. ] You remind me of the Blood Angels at times like this. They combined artistry with war-skill, much as you do.

[ He looks at her, unsure of protocol, if he should stride past and put the bottles down or simply wait to be invited in, so he adds. ]

Also, like you, the Blood Angels were particulary fair of face and limb, amongst the Legiones Astartes.

It was not my intent to flatter you, Saber. However, I do think you would have made a fine Lady-General of the Imperial Army. [ He smiles back, a subtle twist of his lips, as he steps into her room, and sets the bottles down, pouring them both a glass. He sits and eats quietly, watching her. ]

I am... somewhat unsure what you mean by trying to win you over, however. I already thought we were allies against the shadows.

Flattery implies that I am lying to you for some reason. I pride myself on honesty, Saber. [ As for the question of his daringness, that just makes him shrug. He's a space marine and they know no fear. ]

What are Shadows in the first place? Where did they come from, or who created them? What purpose do they actually serve? How come the moon affects them and the hour all this crazy stuff happens? Or, heck, why is it only restricted to a single hour? With the exception of that last day, I mean.

That has not yet been made clear to me. I wish i could be of more help. As for the hours duration, I suspect it is because sorcery of this nature only has a limited purchase on the realm of reality.

Figured as much, but that's okay! There's always answers lying in wait somewhere We just have to dig deep enough to find them. ...Would be a little more helpful if I actually had some of my own equipment from back home, but I guess beggars can't be choosers, huh?

Hm, so you think this is all the result of sorcery? That could work, I guess. I mean, they are sort of similar to the demons in all those old fairy tales.

I know it is the result of sorcery. I've seen what science is capable of, and this is nothing that the priests of Mars could ever do.

Back home, you say? What sort of equipment might that be?

Well, our resident doctor always cooks up nifty stuff for us to use out on the field. She's kind of a genius. I'm sure she'd be able to figure out how to get rid of these shadows more effectively. And our morphers... might've been easily reprogrammable to actually track them, maybe? But I guess it's kind of pointless to wonder about what could be, since we're all kind of stuck here.

We have some very intelligent people here you may want to consult with, actually. Klaus Wulfenbach, for one thing. But... our weapons are mostly autoguns and blades, I'm afraid.

Really? Well, that's good to know. I'm sure we could put our heads together and come up with some useful stuff. ...Or maybe some not so useful but still entertaining stuff.

And yeah, kinda found that out during the whole... zombie thing. It felt kind of weird using an actual gun, but I guess I'll get used to it. If only there was a way to make them lighter. I swear our laser pistols were light as feathers in comparison.

You used lasguns in your previous work? Interesting. My counterparts in the imperial army did as well.

...I'm guessing yours were probably more advanced. But that's still pretty neat.

Not really, Lasguns are very basic weapons.

[Hey, we can be bandage buddies! Though Klaus hasn't gone to the hospital and has, in fact, dealt with his slashed and now-useless eye entirely on his own. Being a mad scientist has its perks! But he's still got enough tact to bandage up the mangled socket.]
