[Text/Action for April and anyone else who wants it]

The assumption that the dead return after one week is incorrect. I was indisposed for nearly two weeks, with no sign as to why this was any different from other cases.

By the way, April, I am typing this from the hotel lobby. I suspected finding me at our door would be a worse shock.

... I know. It's just... you're my friend and the fact that I couldn't do anything to help you has been eating away at me, even though I know feeling like that won't be any help at all.

[Now she pulls away from him completely, still keeping her head down since now she feels a bit sheepish.]

... But you're back now, and that's what matters.

[Emotions are complicated and a weakness. Hadn't he thought so?]

Even so... I'm glad that we're friends.

[Now she looks up at him and blinks in surprise for a moment or two, before smiling brightly, now looking genuinely happy.]

I'm glad we're friends, too... To be honest, I think you're one of my closest friends here.

I'm not sure that I've been anyone's closest friend anywhere.

[He looks confused. How does he do this friendship thing?]

[She sees that confused look, and gives him a reassuring look back.] Well, there's not really much to it. Just keep being yourself, since that's the reason why I like you.

I see. I will do that.

[She smiles a bit more, now looking more like her usual self, even if she does still look a bit tired.]

... Oh, um, do you want to head up to the room? I can promise that I didn't make a completely mess of it while you were gone.

I wouldn't mind. [And he didn't suspect that of her at all.] Let's.

[So back up to the room they go! And while the room is still in-tact, the table in there is kinda covered in books and pieces of paper April has written notes on, which she goes to tidy up a bit.]

Ah, sorry, I should've cleaned this up a bit earlier.

That's fine. I don't need everything to be pristine. [He sort of flooomphs on the bed, looking tired.]

[She glances towards him when he flooomphs on the bed.]

Tired?

It takes something out of you, dying. Give me a moment.

[She gives him a faint look of concern, but still nods.]

... Ah, okay.

[And she goes to sort out the notes on the table, though she'll glance back at him occasionally.]

...How have matters been since I left you?

[Not moving from the bed.]

... Fine. Once the big Shadow was killed, everything calmed down and went back to normal. Though now it's like all that zombie stuff never happened; the natives that were killed came back and there's absolutely no records about any of the killings or the zombies.

[She spends a few more moments sorting out the notes, before she goes to take a seat on the edge of the bed.]

Strange... The locals have remembered what happened before, if not given much thought to it.

[She nods in agreement.] It is pretty strange. I actually went up to a local and asked them about it, but they just thought I was completely drunk or something. [She huffs a small laugh before continuing.]

But maybe it's a good thing they don't remember, since it would've caused a lot of panic.

I imagine it would be difficult to recover from that. Perhaps it's for the best that all is as normal, until we have something solid to move forward with.

[Another nod and a hum in agreement, before she stretches a bit and flops backwards onto the bed, though she makes sure that she doesn't land on him.]

... Though I'm dreading what's gonna happen next... Hopefully whatever happens next won't be as bad as the whole zombie thing.

We'll have to deal with it, whatever it is, but... I would vastly prefer it if we had a bit of a break.

Yeah, a break would be nice. Maybe if we're lucky, it'll just be something weird instead of dangerous next...

... Though I'm not sure if that would really be any better, but I think mostly anything would be better after those zombies.

What would you consider to be weird, April?

Hmm... [She spends a few, short moments thinking.] Well, something completely random and which doesn't make sense, like... being shrunk until you were only a few inches tall. Something odd like that.

If the Shadow at the end of the full moon were the same size as usual, we would be in great trouble.

Aha, that's true. It would be a lot harder to fight the Shadow and there's also the possibility of us getting stomped on.

... Now I'm really hoping something like that doesn't happen.
