Unit 1 - Video

[The video clicks on, showing a black haired man with a very mild look of bewilderment on his face. Not as much as one might expect from a total newbie, but by this point he's a tad used to waking up in strange places. Thanks Dad. Though really, this doesn't look like what he expected the afterlife to be. He really doesn't feel dead though so he's guessing he's alive.]

Oh so that button is the same...[Oh. Right. Broadcasting. He clears his throat]

I suppose I should go out on a limb and assume that this was not where I was supposed to end up. For one thing, I've been to most of the planets that like to emulate Lost Jerusalem and this does not look at all familiar. Would someone be kind enough to tell me what is going on here? Or at least where this place is? I have to admit I am a little lost.

[Jr. couldn't believe what he just saw on video. ~~It's too hot for tv~~ How could Gaignun be here? It was unbelievable to him. Pleasant, but unbelievable at the same time. After all, the man had died in front of him, and Jr., even after all that time, still couldn't bring himself to stop grieving, even if it was in secrecy.

Though, now wasn't the time to dwell in memories or turn back. His body was already set in motion, and running through the halls of the hotel until he reached the lobby. Eyes observing his surroundings to see if they could spot a stupid little brother before Gaignun could spot him.]

[Admittedly Gaignun had really taken the cookies with him so he'd have something to fidget it with. He slowly made his way down the stairs, a sharp eye out for either bullets or red hair. Which ever he met with first.]

Jr...? [He looked around, not quite seeing him yet.]

[Whipping around at the voice, Jr.'s eyes finally caught unto the little brother. Looking the same as he normally did, which was a good sight. A very, very good sight.] Hey, Gaignun. Long time no see.

Ah, there you are. [He gave his older brother that half quirk of a smile that he liked to use and tossed him the packet of cookies.]

As requested. Don't eat them too quickly...

[Catching the bag of cookies made Jr., again, think back at several memories that flowed into his head. This was a normal thing, back then.] Yeah yeah...

[Dismissive handwave, followed by a sheepish smile. Though, if anything, that smile was more of a cover-up from what he was feeling. He just didn't know what to say to Gaignun right now. Words, or actions?]

[His hand remained outstretched from the throw for a moment, as if reaching out for Jr. before he lowered it slowly. Words or actions indeed. Gaignun was not sure as to what to do next.

Dealing with Albedo had been easy, the white variant had just waltzed in, made his displeasure known and then they could move on. But he knew it had been harder on Jr., much harder.]

I'm sorry. I couldn't think of a way to get a better outcome. [Fine. He'd make the first overture.]

[Seeing how close they were over the years, it wasn't easy seeing your brother disappear and sacrifice himself. No. Not easy at all. Perhaps, that is why Jr. finds himself looking away when Gaignun speaks. He wanted to be calm during this. Very, very calm.]

Why didn't you say anything before?

I couldn't. Father would have found out and it all would have been for naught. [Gaignun would not admit that knowing he was going to die made it easier to tell Jr. about the executioner role he carried, it was so freeing to tell the truth when before it would just stick in his throat.]

I was lucky he was too arrogant to even realize it was possible.

[Jr. gritted his teeth. Hating the fact that Gaignun was completely right about their father, and how he would have made sure to do whatever it took to intercept Gaignun. But, he also hated the fact that he felt completely useless, and couldn't save Gaignun either.]

... Sorry, I couldn't save you. [That much he could muster up.]

Jr. Look at me. [He sits down on one of the chairs in the lobby, more so that they could look at each other face to face much more easily. Damn height difference.]

It's ok, you've done more for me then I could ever ask for. There was no saving me from this, so don't think like that. All that matters is that he is gone and you two got reunited.

[The action is appreciated and all, but it kind of just reminds Jr. that he's still in this body, so he makes a face. Albeit for a short moment, before it twists into one of sadness, once again. Though, he's happy to hear these words from Gaignun. Very happy.]

... I know that. But you and Citrine...

[Don't worry kiddo, you're human here, remember? You'll grow soon. But did you have to bring up Citrine? There is a tiny wince as he remembers what Yuriev had said.]

Citrine chose her path, and her place to die. Father had to be stopped.

[You're damn straight he had to bring up Citrine. This is another relative, after all. Even if she was working for Yuriev, it was hard for him to kill his sister.]

Gaignun... [Sighing, and throws in the towel.] You damn idiot.

[And now they can get to fixing this, in times like this Jr. being insulting is almost a good sign.

Maybe?]

Jr., I did what was best. You know what he was planning, and he would have found another way to come back!

I know that, dammit!

[Their conversation was starting to receive stares from some of the citizens and visitors in the hotel lobby. Though, that didn't bother Jr. Not when he was this worked up.] You should know, better than anyone else, Gaignun. How I feel about not being able to save you guys.

[A SECOND TIME.]

I do know! Would you rather I had let Albedo do it instead? There was just no way to save us all in that situation! [Uh oh, come on Gaignun you can do this.]

If there was any other way Jr., please believe me I would have taken it but I did the best I could and so did you! This was not a failure on your part.

[Gaignun. He hates you so much right now. He hates you because he can't find himself to come back with a retort to his words without being wrong, or foolish.]

... [For a moment, he looks away once again. Just hating the fact that Gaignun was absolutely right. There was no way that all of them could be saved. Not when Yuriev was still alive, and in Gaignun's body no less.] I believe you.

Good, I forbid you from beating yourself up about this any longer. [He means this Jr.]

We're all here now, let's just enjoy it. Okay? [He is very sure to keep any note of pleading out of this. Right now he just wants everyone to get along and be on semi ok terms while they have this stolen time.]

Yeah yeah... I hear ya. [For once in his life, Jr. actually takes Gaignun seriously this time. That, and he doesn't want to hear Gaignun talk about how Jr. shouldn't have a martyr-complex anymore.]

Fine. But if I see our idiot father, I'm not going easy on him.

Why do you sound like I would actually protest this? I killed the man. Twice. However I hope he doesn't show up, who ever runs this place can not be that cruel.

[Gaignun glances down at the floor. He never wants to hear Yuriev's chilling voice ever again. He's had enough of that thank you very much.]

Do I sound like that? I meant to sound like "I have first dibs" if we see him. [Not that Jr. wants him to be here either. Not after all the shit he put them through...]

[That manages to get Gaignun to laugh a bit.] I suppose I could give you a turn. You are the oldest and maybe you've earned that privilege. Just leave enough for the rest of us.

No way! He's mine. [FIGHTING OVER THE RIGHT TO BEAT UP THEIR FATHER... Ah yes.]

[Hey, whatever works to cheer up the little derp-face] Now hold on! We're all angry at him! It's only fair that we all get a shot!

[And there's his teasing smile again.]

Fine. One shot, and that's it.

[Ah yes. He utterly missed these kinds of interactions with his brothers.] I still got a grudge against the old man, and I'm not letting him near any of you again.
