[ You would figure by now, somebody would notice how easy it was to accidentally set these phones off and make them start recording and maybe, you know, fix them. Because it's happened again. But this time it's not some secret affair or helpless person experiencing shadows for the first time. What you see unfolding on the screen looks like a teenager trying to pick a fight with kids a little younger than himself. Wow, what? That hardly seems fair! ]

[ ...Yet amazingly, all it took was a few swings and punches at the air to scare the kids away. Of course, doing so reveals another child curled up on the ground, hugging a plush bunny to her chest. Of course, the big and scary teenager makes his way over to her, but with a much different aura about him this time. He actually kneels down to her level and gives her head a pat. ]

You okay, kid? ...Damn it, they really did a number on him, didn't they? Here, lemme see him.

[ Yes, he just whipped out some thread and a needle. And he is totally sewing the bunny back up like nobody's business. Obviously he must be a pro at this. Eventually he's done and hands it back to the kid who gives her thanks and scampers off. ]

Geez, kids can be so cruel. Ain't fair, being ganged up on like that. Now where did I put-- shit!

[ Yeah, he may have just realized the phone someone got knocked out of his pocket and is totally recording everything. Panic mode is go!]

[ Later on, you might find Kanji wandering about the city. Doesn't look like he's actually doing anything in particular, but if you hadn't seen his earlier accidental video, he might look like the type that's looking for trouble. I mean, those piercings and that scar don't exactly give the best first impressions. Feel like bothering him? ]

Ummm, why? [ Abel sounds confused. ] I wish I could sew that fast.

Wait. You mean you don't think it's... [ A slight pause, almost as if he's making sure nobody's paying attention to him. ] Weird or anything?

...why would sewing be weird? [ Abel sighs. ] It's a useful skill.

Uh, well... [ Should he really be telling this to a complete stranger? Probably not, but he's the first one in forever to not mock him for his hobby so... ]

Well, I've told a few people before. [ Like everyone he's ever? ] And they all kind of laughed about it. Said I was weird for liking stuff girls like to do.

[ Oh, that. Yeah, Abel's gotten that too, but being able to smash people's faces in, coupled with his lack of giving a fuck about what strangers think means it hasn't hit too hard. ]

Figures, I got that line once or twice. [ Abel switches the feed to video, revealing his craggy, scarred face and his muscular torso. ] I learned how to sew because hardly anything fits me, and I ended up enjoying it.[ He crosses his arms. ]

[ Abel isn't exactly sure why he's sharing all of this. ] ...I get more crap for being French than sewing, actually...

[ Well, if this guy is switching his on-- oh holy shit. He's huge. Not that it's a bad thing at all. It might actually have a sort of calming effective on him, strange as it sounds. ]

W-well, I don't exactly sew for myself. My family owns a textile shop, so I've been helping out since I was little. Guess I was just sort of born into it.

Don't see why people would give you shit for that, though. Ain't nothing wrong with being French. [ Not that he really knows much about France beyond having a few dishes before, but still ]

So, you don't like sewing, it's just...the family business? [ Sounds like me, and being a mercenary. ] Because I'm a soldier. [ And clearly, that explains everything, even if it doesn't, so Abel says nothing more. ]

[ ...Well, that at least explains why he's huge, to Kanji at least. ] Wow, that's pretty cool. I'm, kinda just a student for now. Still got a couple years left. 'Dunno why I bother, though. Pretty sure I'll just end up working full time back home.

Ah. [ So he probably views it as a chore. Abel isn't sure why, but he feels...disappointed. ] I suppose. [ Killing people isn't my idea of cool. ] You could always quit, but...I'm not the best person to ask, I never [ Dejected. ] ...went to school.

[ Wow. All kinds of awkward in here now. But he'll try not to be offensive or anything. This is the first person he's met that doesn't think sewing is that weird, after all. ]

Well, I barely go as it is. Kinda end up getting into a lot of trouble because of it, but I don't see one damn good reason to bother. Not like I've got any friends. [ Oh, so he actually went and said it... ]

Yeah, I...don't have any friends either. [ He chuckles nervously. ] Looking like you sleep in a bed of razors doesn't help...

[ No, it's not. He's just tired of the whole EW KANJI IS GIRLY EW bullshit really. ]

[ Abel's face changes into a mask of soldierly stoicism and harshness. ] But it's not.

If it were, I wouldn't feel alone in a room full of people. If it were, I wouldn't seek anyone, someone who cares about me and accepts me for who I am.

...I might be all alone and full of anger and sadness because of it, but...I can't lie to myself.

[ ...Well then. That kind of pings every issue Kanji's ever really had with himself. So excuse him for being silent for a good long while. He's carefully thinking all this over. ]

[ Abel blinks, then tries to smile. ]...I thought the same thing. I just...don't like to talk about it. [ Usually. ]

Makes me sound whiny, and the person who I could talk to about this...died a while ago.

[ What is smiling? He's attempting to, but it looks kind of weird coming from a kid that's supposed to look like a Japanese punk. ] Huh. Guess we ain't too different then. 'magine that. Pretty much the same reasoning here and all, too.

[ And if they've shared this much already, might as well properly introduce himself. ] Uh, I'm Kanji Tatsumi. Since I didn't get to say it earlier and what not.

...I'm sorry. [ He's more empathetic than he cares to admit. He feels guilty for dragging out these feelings from someone he hardly knew, until now. ] Abel. Blanchett, if you want a last name, but...I seldom use it.
