[aw yeah, akihiko is at the gym getting ready for some after-school training! he's been teaching atsuro how to fight after school the past week, but regardless of that, he would've been getting in his own practice and training.

if you go to high school, you might've seen him around, but he's not the most social creature. plus, he's focused on much more important things, and gearing up for saturday. anyone is free to come bother him, though! ...if you happen to be in and/or around the gym, anyway.]

[For the past week, Atsuro's been going down to the gym to learn from Akihiko. It's better to learn from someone who knows what to do, otherwise Atsuro's fighting style would be self-taught.

Today is no exception, which is why he's heading down to the gym.]

[when atsuro enters the gym, akihiko is already working with a punching bag. he stops when he notices the other boy and his stance relaxes.] Hey. Big day tomorrow, you think you're ready?

Just a little nervous, but I think I'm ready. What about you?

I've been ready. [he's not nervous at all.] I'm looking forward to putting my training to the test. [he cracks his knuckles now.] Speaking of training, you ready for some more?

[He grins. He's been getting better, little by little, from their lessons.] I'm ready, or else I wouldn't be here.

Good. [and then to test him; without any warning there's a fist flying right at atsuro. however, akihiko has no intention of actually punching the other boy. yet, anyway. just testing atsuro's reflexes.]

[When he see the fist coming, Atsuro react and move to the side to dodge it.] Whoa!

[akihiko smirks.] Just testing your reflexes.

[and he throws another straight punch with his left hand to see if atsuro will be able to dodge again. it's not an ideal teaching method, but they don't have the kind of time it would normally take. so it's get as good as possible in the shortest amount of time. technique can be perfected later.]

[He's expecting another punch, which is why Atsuro managed to dodge that one as well. But it was very close.]

[he still has no intention of hitting atsuro, so akihiko relaxes his stance now. he knows if he keeps swinging, he'll get a hit eventually. especially since he's not throwing punches like he normally would.]

You should always be watching and expecting an incoming attack. Reflexes can get you far, but you've also got to analyze the situation at all times. Think about what you'll do if the enemy does this or that. Anticipating your opponent's next move while being light on your feet is important so you can dodge and counterattack.

[and to emphasize his point he readies his stance again, and gestures for atsuro to try to punch him. akihiko's been boxing for long enough to not worry about getting hit at the moment.]

[He listens to Akihiko. What he said make sense, pretty close to 'common sense' level. However, hearing it from someone that knows how to fight was more effective, in his opinion.

Atsuro moves into a stance, learned from Akihiko, before trying to punch him.]
