[Unlike a majority of you non-hipster Servants, Saber here doesn't come from post-canon or post-death or any of that--no, he was in the middle of something VERY, VERY IMPORTANT like SAVING MY MASTER'S LIFE important. So aside from suddenly waking up here being 1) very strange and 2) very unexpected it is also 3) VERY UNWANTED. Technology was never his forte but at this rate he needed information somehow.]

Assuming this will reach other people, I would like to request assistance. Specifically, where this city is and whatever transportation services there are here. [Since it sure didn't look like he'd be able to go back to where he was by foot and whatnot.] I apologize for the curtness of this message, but I'm afraid I've something very important that I have to do.

Then you're ahead of some of the other Servants in that respect. One in particular is possessed of an ego so overinflated that he saw fit to purchase a local bookstore and throw out all books which in any way suggested that society had progressed since his era.

I'm only fulfilling my duty as a fellow kidnappee by informing you. Concerning the night's dangers, do you still possess a weapon? While Personas are of use in combat, it isn't wise to be over-reliant on a single technique.

You'll need to earn some money with which to purchase one first, but once you have enough, there is a store which deals in antiquities called Felix's Finds whose proprietor is willing to clandestinely deal in weapons of a sort that you would already be familiar with.

Now that's good to hear! I'd thought that getting any sort of decent weapon would be difficult in the modern era, but if it's just money then I think I'll be able to handle it.

Both participants in an argument can learn much as well, given certain necessary virtues; indeed, that is the primary basis of my own vocation, as well as a little-appreciated aspect of modern means of government.

Both money and a willingness to be covert are necessary; while Felix has a limited understanding of the situation, most of the natives have none whatsoever, and would thus regard such a purchase with suspicion. After all, there is far less legitimate use for weapons in this era; the Dark Hour is an anomaly. one during which the natives' very existence is temporarily suspended.

How could locals not know about something like this in their own city... But what do you mean by temporarily suspended?

[On one hand, Edgeworth is finally used to having to explain his job to Servants. On the other, he also doesn't particularly expect a warm reception of the concept from them, even from a much more reasonable Arthur, so don't mind if he sounds overly standoffish even for him...]

I'm a criminal prosecutor -- someone who argues the case against those accused of crimes in a court of law through debate with the defense attorney, questioning of witnesses, and leveraging the evidence. Such tribunals exist in order to ensure that the truth behind a crime is proven beyond a reasonable doubt before any punishment is delivered.

Uh... huh. [At the very least, he doesn't sound outright disapproving of the idea. More than anything, he sounds confused. Weren't such things the job of a king, after all? But he already admitted that he wasn't really a king anymore, so there was only one thing he could really say.]

The modern era really is different from my time, no matter how much I think about it.

That it is. It has long been considered a poor idea to place too much power in any single man's hands or to have one's rulers chosen through heredity and the rare act of providence, most notably.

To answer your other earlier question, during the Dark Hour, the natives of Prospero temporarily cease to exist, and we haven't the slightest lead as to why. Ergo, from their perspective, it simply doesn't occur.

Hm. So that's considered bad now, huh? [Where were the people who thought like that when he accidentally picked up a magical sword huh HE WAS JUST TRYING TO HELP KAY NOT BECOME KING OF A COUNTRY!! Okay no I'm just kidding...]

Indeed. Offering those to be ruled a choice in who would rule them and dividing power among leaders in such a way as to provide checks and balances is preferred now. [Seriously, Arthur, you have NO IDEA how much better this conversation is going so far compared to the one he had with Arturia.]

When the residents reappear, it is as though no time passed at all for them.

Checks and balances... Well, if that's what the people have decided to want, then it'd be hypocritical of me to say something now after all that stuff I said earlier. It's certainly different, but I'm just a mythological figure in the modern era, right? No right to comment at all.

You are still a human being, certain to draw your own conclusions about the efficacy of such things. Do keep in mind, however, that we've been drawn to one of America's less proud eras, and to a city still recovering from its original status as a failed experiment.

"Less proud" eras? A failed experiment? What exactly happened here?

Concerning the era, to put things simply banks were allowed to operate with too little regulation and oversight, leading to a worldwide economic crisis.

I know relatively little of the history of Prospero in particular; perhaps that should be the subject of my next investigation. However, it is my understanding that it was created as a planned community oriented towards business, but that it was suddenly deserted at some point and only recently have people begun to return -- hence the quantity of deserted buildings.

Worldwide economic crisis... [He just shakes his head. It's hard to believe how different the world is from when he was alive; he's only used to the economy of one tiny nation. As far as he can tell, there's no way he'd understand something like worldwide economic crisis.]

The more I hear about this place, the weirder it gets. This city looks fine from what I can tell; what could make people abandon it in the first place?

I know too little about Prospero as yet to give you such an answer.

Maybe with enough luck, we'll all be able to find out the truth. Until then though, this sounds like a real mystery.

There is skill involved in such discoveries as well, Mr. Pendragon.
