[Lion's been fidgeting with this...phone thing for a while now, and finally manages to broadcast his voice—he hasn't figured out the video feature yet because hey he's from the 80's okay and technology.]

What…exactly is this? I’m afraid I don’t quite understand it…I don’t recognize where I am, at all. This definitely isn’t an uncharted area of Rokkenjima, and I know there are several places that I‘m unaware of in the forest… But, no…

I’m certain this is a completely different place altogether, it's far too huge. The climate is so much different, and…this place is actually quite a bit more remarkable than my island.

Besides, I doubt an entire city could fit on my home island. The thought alone is bizarre.

[He puts a hand over his mouth in thought, looking pensive and a bit troubled.]

More importantly, I believe leaving the church should have been impossible. It was...well, I can't quite explain why. Not even I understand it... In any case, I must return there as soon as possible. Someone, anyone, please tell me where exactly I am so that I can make the necessary arrangements to get back to my family.

I still don't understand the circumstances, or why I can't return home, but...I at least know this place is called Prospero.

That's... well, alright, it's not all we know, but details about the location make up the lion's share of it.

Other than random chance, though, it seems we're stuck here. Some people vanish, some stay, still others appear. Like I said, it's all pretty random. [She shrugs.]

Well...I suppose it's good to know I'm not the only one in this situation. Still, that sounds troubling--

I-I don't want to disappear unless it returns me to my home again.

Not that I've pulled the vanishing act myself, but I've talked to people who have, and have returned from it; it sounded like they did go home for a while, so...

Guess I'm just trying to say not to worry about that.

If you could, tell me more about this city--locations and such. I don't exactly have a map, so it would be good to know the rough layout of this place.

Actually, that phone you're holding should have the option to bring up a map on-screen stashed away somewhere.

[The image of Devola on Lion's screen started to scrutinize her own phone, poking at her screen a few times.]

M'guessing you're not used to this variety of phone, yes?

You guess right. I...I've never seen this type of device, before. The phones I'm used to are--well, they're nothing like this.

[Lion goes silent a moment as he stares at the phone. He's a little hesitant to try accessing the map or anything else right now in fear of losing the connection.]

That's nothing to be ashamed about -- I'd never even really seen a phone before this one, and you can see I at least vaguely know what I'm doing now. They're not too hard to figure out.

...Most of that's because you just poke at the screen and it responds to touch. The map should be hiding somewhere in the "applications" option, by the way.

Yes, I at least figured out how to use the voice function...it's almost like a regular telephone. Aside from the--touch response, is it?

[He takes a moment to observe the phone and looks around for applications. Awkward, awkward what is this futuristic technology. After a few moments he manages to find the map. He sounds relieved when he speaks again.]

Nothin' ya really need to thank me for. Whoever made these things was nice enough to make 'em really simple to use~

[A pause as she considers the map for a moment, herself.]

There are a few locations you'll probably want to keep in mind. The hotel's kind of a big one, giving people free room and board as it does. There's a weapon shop too, if you're one of those combat-crazy folks. Plenty of businesses of varying import, restaurants...

...Well, in the end there's a lot of stuff. Decently sized island, and all.

I don't think I'll be visiting the weapon shop anytime soon...But the hotel is definitely a place I'll need to find.

[He observes the map a few moments, trying to figure out his current location. And pretty soon he figures he's in the business district somewhere, because he recognizes a street name.]

It does seem quite large. At least more than I'm used to. I think I can manage, though. At least, I've learned of my current location.

It's a pretty simple layout, though. Southern and western parts are businesses -- though a lot of the buildings aren't usually occupied. Keeping up with the generalizing, the east side's for stores, and north side's where actual houses and stuff are.

The hotel's on (street names here, don't think it was ever brought up...), by the way. It's pretty big, and hard to miss.

[Lion searches for that street name on the map, and finds it. It doesn't seem too far away--at least within walking distance.]

Why are some of the buildings unoccupied? My first impression was that this city was quite large and populous.

I had to go through a history lesson to find that one out, actually. The simple version of it goes that there was a big boom when the island was first occupied, but as the boom died down people started to move out.

Pretty wishy-washy people, if you ask me.

[Lion nods--he's familiar with those types of situations from his studies.]

That's unfortunate, but not an uncommon occurrence. I suppose this city's faced harsh times.

For a given value of harsh, yeah. I honestly can't tell if it's on an upswing or a downswing now.

[A pause, adding thoughtfully.]

Or if the addition of out-of-towners like us would be a boon or a burden.

I wonder.
