4th Update [Action/Video]

[It's exact midnight, Dark Hour time, and the video shows Kaito sitting alone at the open street, humming this song. His voice reaches the alleyways, if someone happened to be there. There's also slight pause in the middle of the song, as he slashes a rather weak Shadow before he sits back.]

So, after everything's happened, the numbers of them decreases after the full moon? That's good. I don't have to patrol around the streets three times a week.

[Continues whistles the song, as he has nothing much to do.]

[With her new-found power, Haruhi was wandering the street, keeping an eye out for shadows. Before long however, she was drawn to the song, sung by a familiar voice.]

Oh! Kaito!

[She runs up to him.]

Find anything exciting? Or just normal shadow things?

Nothing unusual about those creepy shadow, boss! Their numbers are decreasing recently.

Hmm... You think it's because we knocked out that big bad monster recently? But if there are still some shadows around, there may be other bosses.

Oh! Like in a yakuza group! You know how they have sub-bosses and the like, but the organization only goes under completely when the head honcho gets knocked out? Like that!

It surely begins from there. If we could take down their bosses, there won't be any shadows around.

But boss, yakuza group got brains. They never separate from the group even their leader is down.

That's true. You can learn a lot about running a group from yakuza. [I wonder what Haruhi was thinking about when creating the SOS Brigade...]

So you're saying the Shadows aren't that smart?

Half-smart? [She gives him a look that could melt his face. She usually reserves those looks for Kyon.]

Okay, the term is "dumb" or "stupid". But it actually makes sense that the Shadows are dumb. They're lower-level in the hypothetical monster organization, right? The top-tier monsters are sending out the shadows to do their dirty work. But since the Shadows aren't that bright, they're given minimal tasks, like causing mayhem and attacking us. But they're alot of them, so if they get killed off it doesn't matter.

[Kaito blinks. How on earth she got a lot of information on them? Shadows aren't easy to find in the dictionary. Looks like he almost underestimate his own boss.]

So they're now... regrouping eventually?

I guess? [She shrugs] I'm just saying if they act like a yakuza or mafia. It could be something else.

Well if they are like a mafia we just need to think like them. If I were them, I'd bring out another big boss soon, don't you think? Everyone's had some time to relax since the last big battle, but they're lulling us into a false sense of security or something.

Oh... right. That means we will never caught off-guard by them even they're up to something. If they send another big boss, we got our own big boss to deal with them. Good thinking.
