[The video feed flickers on to reveal two figures sitting in the hotel lobby—one is Ushiromiya Lion and the other is Willard H. Wright. They're both staring intently into the camera and looks like srs bsnss is going to go down here. Lion is the first to speak. He stands and makes a bow.]

Good afternoon, Prospero. It's come to my attention that certain ones of us have conflicting perspectives on the Ushiromiya family and the island of Rokkenjima. I've spoken with my acquaintance Willard H. Wright and he's agreed to clear up any misconceptions.

Name's Willard Huntington Wright as he said, I can't proclaim my detective rights, but I'm quite knowledgeable in Witch Trials, so I proclaim my part as judge, at least to clear this...situation. I'm not here to sentence anyone, so don't worry I'll serve as a judge and information source.

Witch trials...? [Lion pauses for a moment.] His information is highly accurate, though I'm unsure how he knows so much. As he said, rest assured, this isn't a trial.

Before we start I wanna leave some points clear, there are two truths being judged, they are different but that doesn't make them any less valid. We are proving the reality of those truths, Lion's truth is one side of the coin, the other is the opposing side, first both sides should be named and have a record of such.

This—this is the first I'll be hearing about it as well.

I won't list names, but the ones involved--please come to the Bayview Hotel's lobby, where we will be waiting. Video response is also an option, but an in-person explanation is strongly preferred in this situation so that we may clear up this confusion as efficiently as possible. Thank you for your time.

[It wouldn't take long to get a response from Beato. She appeared as if she'd been summoned magically, giving no sign she'd even heard the broadcast. She'd find a seat nearest the two men and occupy it daintily, crossing one leg over the other.]

I said I'd be here, Lion, and as promised here I am.

Now, regale me. Tell me how we're going to resolve this little standstill.~

[The detective glanced at the blond woman, he had to solve her murder....well he knew better than that to know the truth, but he was here just to make sure the truth is the only thing revealed and to protect both of the sides sinless truths, this reminded him to his old days as an Inquisitor, even if his face didn't show he was excited.]

"First of all, I think you will be the representative of the "opposing side" is that correct? Beatrice..."

[As usual there was no signs of elegance or care on his words.]

"Let me explain how this will be resolved, as a witch you surely know about witch trials, this is exactly like this, but due to the lack of red and blue, my word will have to suffice, I'll listen to both sides and I'll clear any misconceptions, when we have both sides to explain their side's truth we will have enough information to agree on a single universal truth."

[He said with a stern face.]

[Lion nods at the woman while Will speaks. Wow, Will sure knew how to handle this. Lion never doubted him, but seeing him with his business face on was pretty impressive.]

...It's as Will says, miss...Beatrice.

[Her gaze would shift from Lion to Will with a curt nod.]

The first inconsistency we have here is Lion, himself. Those he claims to be his parents simply cannot be. They only have one child. A sickly one if I recall.

He claims to have a successor's ring which puts him in line to be the Ushiromiya family heir. This also cannot be. My solid proof is on my person. I have the ring of the family head and there is no further successor.

Let us first go over these items before we delve deeper, hm?

[He noticed the elegance of this woman, no wonder why someone like Kinzo would suffer an eternity for her absence. Her answers to this "trial" weren't elegant though, they were more like a tantrum, a childish attempt to prove his existence was deniable. When a witch let herself get exposed means she is worried, but who could blame her; he was worried himself if his suspicions were true...no it couldn't come to that, he was there to protect both of them.]

Ah, yes. I believe we should establish which matters will be covered and which will not unless they have a good excuse to be discussed. I accept the discussion on the first matter at hand, we shall discuss it with the other part of the trial, being Lion.

[He said with a small hand gesture pointing Lion.]

But I cannot accept the second one, as there are different items that claim such succession. As you can see...the material of your ring...is Gold and Lion here...

[He grabs his hand with a single movement and pushes it forward to show the woman his ring.]

Owns a silver one. Just because you didn't knew about the existence of a silver one, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And as I'm sure you are quite fond of the term, this itself it's a Devil's proof, just because you didn't knew it existed you can't deny it.

[He's silent on the first matter, for now--

Hey what's with grabbing his hand so rudely--! He's perfectly capable of showing her himself...but, well, it served a purpose at least. Lion doesn't try to reprimand Will for that right now. He nods.]

Yes, this ring as well as the one you wear on your finger both exist--though Grandfather possesses the head's golden ring as far as I know. I still don't see how that ring came into your possession...I would hope for you to explain this matter eventually, Will.

[She'll lean forward a bit and study the ring momentarily. She had to admit it's existence was possible, however unlikely.]

I submit to that. However that Devil's Proof can work both ways. If I relent that improbable things can exist without my knowledge, who is to say that it can't be used for every argument?

In my defense, I know nothing of this ring because for me, there is no need for such a thing. The ring of the family head is meant for that purpose alone, to distinguish who is first and foremost of the family. A silver coloring denotes a second in line, but there is no heir which would prompt a need for a second ring to be made.

Therefore, I cannot deny the ring outright, but I can provide means against its existence.

[She glanced up at Lion. This boy seemed so sincere when he spoke, she almost wanted to believe him. But there was simply no way that there was someone in this family she knew nothing about.]

As I said. This ring was promised to me as well as all that which belongs to Kinzo. That was the bargain he struck, the promise he made. This is simply proof of that bargain.

[He listened at her speech, it was true in the end on her side of things, there was no need for one, but on Lion's side Kinzo made it for him, since it meant a relationship that both were unaware of. He couldn't really explain it without saying the truth but he had to try.]

I agree with you Beatrice, I didn't expect less from you, but as for the meaning...

[He said while turning his back to both holding his hands on his back, he stopped suddenly turned back and pointed to both.]

It doesn't mean what you both think it does.

[He knew this would stir up both but he was ready.]

It's true you both think they mean who the next head would be, and it's true having two would be quite a waste, but you also mentioned this golden ring was a proof of a bargain. So it would mean Kinzo is in no longer possession of this ring. Think about it, Kinzo's kids fight for the leadership like rodents for a piece of food, in Kinzo's defense I can say he created this second ring to prove existence of another person that could replace the one holding the golden ring until he or she appeared. To keep the kids quiet in a way. Kinzo wouldn't bear to tell the family someone outside from the family...had that ring. That's why Kinzo told you thatyou were the next head and prepared you in case of Beatrice didn't returned Lion, but the ring you have seen on him it's probably a fake compared to Beatrice's.

[He had lied his way out of that one, no one could ask him to repeat it on red, and his job as a detective was finding ways to prove something, he had to clear any mislead information and create a window so it can exist in both sides.]

You didn't knew of this heir Beatrice, because Kinzo wouldn't let you know he had a second in line just in case, it would be an insult towards you and we all know Kinzo wouldn't dare. And in order to protect Lion he would keep him hidden...he has a way of hiding people on that huge island of his.

[He grinned towards Beatrice]

[ Usagi didn't understand most of it, but it did sound pretty serious, so.. she's just staring, looking slightly confused. ]

[Will noticed the girl calling for Lion she seem interested on this act, he didn't minded the audience, but he was at least going to explain properly to everyone attending.]

Kid, this is a witch trial, we are conducting this in order to find the truth, you are more than welcome to stay, but you'll have to introduce yourself properly, name's Willard H. Wright, I'm the judge for this trial, and you are?

[He is blunt and direct as usual, he showed no kindness to the confused girl but being this blunt and rude was just natural for him.]

[ The guy does seem a little direct to her, but.. hey, Usagi is used to people being even more rude to her at times, so it doesn't really deter her. She looks a bit confused, but tries to smile all the same, even if there's a hint of something maybe slightly awkward. ]

U-um, I'm Usagi! Usagi Tsukino, nice to meet you, Willard-san! I didn't know there was a witch trial going on or something like that, though..

[Come on Will be more polite! Lion aims a pinch at him for that blunt manner of speech, off-camera.]

Will nods at the introduction of Usagi, he crossed his hands listenning.

[He glared at Lion because knowing him, he did it just to embarrass him in front of his friend.]

[ she blinks at the screen, somewhat awkward since she's somehow put on the spot here.. ]

[He turned back to Lion, the little brat planned it well so the camara wouldn't show his actions against him.]

This might appear as a serious matter, but it's not really and I think Lion could use the help of a friendly face on the audience. As I said you are welcomed.

[He knew Lion didn't had the advantage, even if there was only Beato here, others from Rokkenjima might join in as well. Lion was alone on this matter, Lion had him but he had to be fair to both sides. He couldn't help him, because after all Beatrice truth and heart could get exposed as well and he wanted to protect both.]

Hmm, okay then! If it's for Lion-san's sake, then I don't mind at all. [ she smiles a little, but it's definitely warm. ] Especially if you won't mind having me around, then it's fine in either case.

[Just... gonna peer into the camera curiously. Maybe a bit concernedly.]

This isn't a witch trial or anything of the sort, miss Devola, only a...conference, if you will.

[He points at Beatrice.]

This isn't something violent, we are just trying to understand both sides truths and reach an agreement.

If I'm allowed to ask, what do you mean by "both truths"?

[Will was being surprisingly agreeable. Lion glances from Will to Devola.]

I don't understand it entirely, either. Will's information is the truth as far as I've confirmed, however.

[He falls silent so Will can explain the truths aspect.]

[Will closes his eyes and sighs, he understand how difficult is for someone that is not part of a witch's game. But he couldn't care for all his words or else this would get even more messed up and more difficult to understand.]

Well I'm saying, the two versions of a story, let's say I ate an apple, for me that's the truth, I ate the apple, but for Lion "Someone ate the apple", that's the truth for him. He didn't saw me eating the apple but yet he believes someone ate it. The real truth for both ends it's "The apple was eaten" so both sides can agree with that idea. This is what I'm trying to achieve oh this case.

So, it's an issue with the burden of proof? Both sides of the argument have valid reason to believe that they aren't lying, but the stories still contradict one another so much that they can't both be true?

Very well, I'm glad my explanation wasn't as bizarre as I thought it was, indeed, both sides have their own truth and I want to expose the side's facts so they can reach a understanding, while accepting this facts.
