tvk | Cats, Books, and Noodles

[Thanks to the, uhh, "generosity", of Gilgamesh, Miki has finally found some employment. However, sitting behind a register at a bookstore late at night, no matter how ridiculous and golden that register may be, isn't really her idea of fun. The books do nothing for her either, as books are also rather boring to her. After two dull nights and desperate for some excitement in her life, as her injuries have made constant nightly shadow hunts unwise, Miki has decided to throw herself into her second passion which has seen little use since her arrival at Prospero: getting people to visit her store.]

Video, sometime around 8PM Friday.

[Miki's phone is propped up against a pole in such a way that the viewing angle shows both her and Gil's bookstore in full behind her. Smiling, Miki begins speaking loudly and cheerfully as she makes exaggerated gestures towards the bookstore.]

Hey! Are you bored? Do you like reading books? Do you like coffee? Do you like cute things with cat ears? Well now you can have all of them at The Bookstore! Come on down to the Kitty Cafe inside and we'll make sure you'll have the best time you ever had inside a bookstore! T-this definitely means you too Lion! Nyan~

[Miki brings her arm up to her face in an imitation of the Maneki Neko pose before she runs up to the phone and shuts off the feed.]

Action - The bookstore

[The inside of Gil's bookstore is now filled with about two dozen stray cats that Miki has headed in off of the streets. Most of them lounge about in the way that cats are wont to do, with dispositions ranging from affectionate to disinterest. None of them look overly sick or diseased or infested, Miki did screen these cats personally, at least. Miki herself is running around, wearing her normal clothes and completely absent any sort of superfluous ears, handing out coffee in cardboard cups to the few bewildered customers inside. She has a few bandages on her hands and face, as well as a few minor red scratches.]

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

[Lion smiling makes Miki feel a little bit better, but, what was that a moment ago? Why was she so worried?]

Y-yeah! O-Ok.

[Miki sits down on the couch next to Lion, close but not too close. She is blushing a bit and looking down at her knees. It looks as though there is something she wants to say, but the fear on her face seems to indicate she can't bring herself to say it.]

[Lion takes a moment to gaze around the bookst--no, the cat-infested cafe-bookstore. He still couldn't understand the sudden change, but...well. As long as he could still come and read the books at will it was all fine.]

How are you liking your job here, miss Miki? It can't be easy taking care of all these cats.

I-it's not that bad! They seem to know when to go outside and and fairly nice. Taking care of them is...it's a lot more interesting then sitting around doing nothing too, hehe...

And where exactly did you get ahold of so many?

I wasn't aware there were so many wandering about Prospero.

[He gracefully avoided mentioning her bandaged/scratched state. Cat claws weren't pleasant, were they...]

It was kind of hard, not all of the ones I found were very cooperative, so I only brought the ones who were really friendly here.

[Miki pauses a moment and blushes.]

It's really nice being somewhere with friendly cute things who like you, i...isn't it, Lion?

[Well he can't really approve of bringing stray cats into a settlement, but...]

I suppose it is. It's certainly not going to be quiet around here with all of these cats, but it does bring a sort of liveliness to the place.

It does! Cat's are a lot more fun then books.

[Miki clears her breath and smiles sheepishly at Lion.]

A-anyway, Lion, there is something I wanted to ask you...

Well, that is somewhat true. You can't exactly pet a book or feed it...

[He trails off. He's really not sure what else to say why is this getting a little awkward--]

Oh, do you? Feel free to ask.

W-well I-I was wondering do you...do you like me?

Like you? Of course I like you, miss Miki. I see you as a very close friend.

...In fact--I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, but you remind me a great deal of my younger sister.

[At this he smiles fondly. He totally doesn't realize what she actually means by that question.]

Oh. So y-you don't like me in a-a-a little bit more than that?

[He shakes his head.]

More than that? If you're worried I dislike you, I think I've already proven that I don't. What I said was true.

Oh. So when I...when I kissed you the other night...you didn't...didn't feel anything?

[Oh. Oh so that's what this is about. He's not sure if he's willingly in denial about that happening or if he's just embarrassed about this whole situation. But whatever the case, it wouldn't be right to just ignore her question. Now was as good a time as any to clear this up.]

Miss Miki...

[His smile slowly turns to a thin line as he furrows his eyebrows a little and turns to look Miki in the eye, his expression earnest yet serious.]

I'm...terribly sorry to tell you this, but that happening--it was just so sudden. I wasn't aware you felt so strongly--and, it's just too soon for something like that.

I don't mean to hurt you, but what I feel most for you is strictly friendship.

[Friendzoned.]

Wha- oh...

I see. That's how it is...

[Silently Miki gets up and walks over to one of the cats. She picks it up to to what seems to be the felines great dismay. It struggles and yells as she walks back over to lion, her face expressionless and seemingly unfazed by the howling and scratching cat in her hands. When she reaches Lion, she drops the angry animal over his lap.]

[Miki's next words are considerably less silent, and pour loudly from her mouth in a tear fueled rage.]

SO THATS HOW IT IS YOU'RE ONE OF THOSE PERVERTS WHO GOES AROUND STOMPING ON INNOCENT GIRLS HEARTS BECAUSE IT FUELS YOUR SICK DREAMS ARENT YOU???!???!?

[As if the initial shock of having an angry cat dropped on him wasn't enough--then came the screaming?! He immediately jumps away from the cat's rage (and sharp claws)]

[he waits until her part is done before throwing in his defense. Congrats Miki he's upset. And a little hurt.]

M-miss Miki, I never expected something like this from you--!

I tried my best to tell you, and it was my farthest intention to lead you on, but reacting in such a way is--is...it's just childish!

I am most certainly not a pervert, nor someone with sick dreams, so I'm going to ask you as politely as I can to hold your tongue on the matter...!

[And as punishment he pinches her. On the butt. Yup. That's how Lion rolls.]

[Miki was ready to tear into Lion's obvious lies further, her brain filled with whatever irrational thoughts the arcana is putting into her. But then wih a flash he....]

[HE...]

[HE DID NOT JUST...]

[HE DID NOT JUST PINCH ME THERE OH MY GOD HE PROBABLY WAS GOING TO STRING ME ALONG JUST SO HE COULD oh dear...]

[Whump. Miki goes down ice cold as a slightly perverted thought enters her thoughts. A few of the cats take this opportunity to curl up on her unconscious body.]
