Good day. I'm posting to inform everyone that I'll be absent from Prospero for the next two weeks for the sake of legal research abroad. Wright will be accompanying me as well. It is my hope that this research should be of some use in determining what form of court would best suit a group consisting of so few people.

I extend my apologies to those who might have hoped to engage in recreation involving us, but business must always come before pleasure. Perhaps we can schedule something upon our return.

There are also things far more valuable in the world than the attention and praise of others. Pursuit of the truth is something that should remain unhindered by such selfishness.

I can testify from experience that fame has significant disadvantages, though it isn't without its benefits as well.

If you try hard enough you can find a downside to pretty much anything. The important thing is to make sure that the good outweighs the bad.

Well, sure. You can't always control everything, but you can always make the best of whatever situation you're in.

Maybe... But I don't think the people who were doing that manipulating really meant anything bad by it.

I refer to the sort of manipulation that can skew one's perception of what making the best of a situation entails.

I guess not. I never really thought about stuff like that before.

This is why we must assess every concept we're exposed to with a critical eye, and why allies capable of the same are crucial.

I mean, sometimes it's better to just believe in things and trust other people. You can't be suspicious of everything, can you?

Faith is a very dangerous thing to misplace, Egbert. Those we trust, we arm; when we do so wrongly, we or the things we value suffer as a result.

But I think people deserve the benefit of the doubt. Most people are good, you just have to give them a chance.

And I'd rather trust people and maybe be let down than be suspicious of everyone.
