... what would you say is a pretty good way to pass the time? Sure there's the whole Dark Hour thing, but I can't really just sit at home doing nothing during the daytime. It doesn't really have to be anything important, but just knowing that I'm spending my time on something productive would be nice.

I've found I quite enjoy a fair amount of modern fiction, personally.

I help out at the library. I've always been fond of libraries. You should do something you care about or find interesting.

Get a job, get a hobby, loaf around. You want something productive, you should ignore that last idea.

Take on some jobs - people are always hiring for odd jobs around here, you know.

The other day, I saw an ad for some yardwork.

Finding what I find interesting might be the hard part... [He can't just go riding horses or jousting or whatever man life is strange now.]

That might be something to look into then! It's been a while since I've really had time to just enjoy a good story.
