I think I've finally got this thing working. [Neville appears sideways on the screen. He's not holding it right, but give the kid some credit for figuring out this wacky muggle device.]

I've already been told the general gist of what's going on around here. And I've had the chance to experience it a bit for myself. And, well, I want to help if I can. It looks like there's still a lot of questions to be answered about what's happening and if I can do anything- not to mean that you lot haven't been working hard and all. I'm sure you have. It just, you know, an extra set of hands and all that.

[He's beginning to feel a little stupid for making the post, but he needs to feel useful. Being trapped in a new culture with nothing to work towards is testing his nerves.]

I'm Neville, by the way. Neville Longbottom. Anything I could do to help, if you'd let me, I'd be grateful for.

So what do you do back home, Neville? I know it's a pretty lame conversations tarter, but it's something at least.

I'm a student. [Vague but true.]

Yeah? How old are you, are you in college yet?

Seventeen. I don't know what you mean by college.

The school that comes after high school? [What.... are they teaching you.] You've never heard of it?

Well some people go on to study medicine, but mostly it's job training after your seventh year.

Seven.. You go to a private school or something, pal?

Something like that.

Alright, I get the picture. So what're you gonna do, when it's all over?

I don't know. There's things I'd like to do, but with everything going on and the war... I haven't given it much thought.

The war? Geeze, Neville.

The war's not here - you don't have to worry about it right now, at least.

Yeah, I figured that part out already. Not really helping with the worrying though. I've got friends back home still fighting.

You and me both, pal. [It's a different scenario, but.]

It'll work out - I don't think things are exactly how hey seem to be here, when it comes to how things are back home.

What do you mean?

Well - I've heard of some people going back home only to return here. [He shifts, scratching at the back of his head.]

It's like they never left when it happens, apparently.

Some kind of time paradox? [He's not even sure if he's using that word correctly and it shows on his face. That and a small measure of relief.] But that's good to hear. That they won't be fighting alone while I'm gone. I trust Ginny but she shouldn't have to handle it by herself.

Something like that, yeah.

[A tilt of the head, just barely.] Ginny? Friend of yours back home?

Yeah, she, another friend of ours, and myself were running a sort of protection group for some of the kids who got caught up in the war back home.

Ah - geeze, what kind of war was it, if you don't mind the question?

The kind a lot of people think's hopeless. The other side already has control over nearly everything and our side's gotten pretty low in numbers. I guess you could also say it's the kind you here of in stories, where everything comes down to a clash of good and evil.

If it's anything like how the stories go, I say you've got a pretty good chance with things. [He offers a smile.] Even if it does sound a little clichéd.

[He smiles back] Clichéd or not, winning would still be a relief.

I bet. It'll work out, you'll see.
