[accidental video] John: Wake up already

[John's phone falls to the ground and the video switches on to reveal him sitting up gingerly and rubbing his head. Waking up in an alley was not what he expected to be doing today. How the hell?

Oh. Wait..... Wasn't he looking for that serial killer? Actually.... did he find him? He certainly remembers a finding this guy and then... a lot of pain.... He still feels like crap.

He glances around and finally notices that his phone is on. He picks it up.]

Hey guys....

Um.... I'm not sure what happened, but I think I've been out for a while.

So.... what'd I miss?

You know...the messages on the network are normally public, right? That means...that means the killer could have seen them. Everything we said.

[Which means the guy might have heard who was looking for him. And even when. It made sense really....]

Well, he probably didn't have time to be listening to every phone conversation. I bet it was just bad luck that he found me.

I hope that's the case. [The alternative is way too creepy to think about.]

Did you hear that they'd arrested two suspects?

No, no one said anything about that. Couldn't any of the other victims identify the right one?

I think most of them are just waking up too. And personally, if it was me, I wouldn't be too enthusiastic to confront anything related to having been killed, you know.

I bet Mr. Edgeworth will figure out who it was even if no one identifies the guy.

Edgeworth? Who's he?

You've never talked to him? He the lawyer that's been leading the investigation of the whole interdimensional kidnapping and dark hour stuff.

And by 'leading the investigation,' I mean he pretty much is the investigation.

Oh. That's good...although there aren't any other investigators? That sounds pretty impressive, actually.

Well... there was another guy, but he's kinda.... gone now. So Mr. Edgeworth is stuck doing the whole thing on his own.

Well. Maybe more people of that type will appear sometime later on. I think we could use some of them.

No kidding. There's way too many people around here causing problems and only a few trying to solve them.

People can be terrible like that. It seems most humans lack instincts of camaraderie.
