[Suddenly, a video feed clicks on. The image is blurry and moving sporadically: this video is clearly accidental.]

[The image stabilizes somewhat. It reveals itself to be the face of an older man with absolutely ridiculous hair, looking very Perplexed but altogether Intrigued.]

Interesting. I assume this is some manner of recording or communication device, then. And if you press --

[The feed clicks off suddenly, and then returns a few seconds later.]

-- relatively simple, all things considered. If only the buttons weren't so deucedly small... but it will have to do.

I am Baron Klaus Wulfenbach and, if anyone is listening, I would like some answers. A cursory investigation of this place has made it painfully obvious that I am very, very far from my homeland and, it appears, my place in relative space-time. I would like an explanation from someone more familiar with this universe as to where I am, when I am and, perhaps, the general history of this city. It is discomfiting enough to be removed from one's home when one is in the middle of attempting to stop a war; it is far worse to be removed to somewhere that one knows nothing about. Thus, I require information, if you please, and quickly.

Universe bleed? Not sure what you mean by that. I assume it's all tied together, at any rate. If it wasn't for the fact we don't know whether the extra hour started with the appearance of the first of us, or was around beforehand, we could probably say with certainty it's all related.

Ah, pardon. I often forget that terminology I may find commonplace can be confusing to others. I was referring to the fact that the Shadows only seem to appear during that extra hour and that the world markedly changes during that time, pointing towards some sort of fundamental universal change.

From what I have heard about it thus far, my current theory is that during that hour, another reality bleeds into this one, which is where the Shadows originate and the reason for time slowing down to the rate it does. As I explained to the other young woman I was speaking to, two realities cannot exist at full speed while bleeding into each other not suffer negative consequences from the feedback and/or eventual breakaway. Of course, this was never my area of study; I could be wildly off. I shall have to wait until I actually experience this hour myself to come to any concrete conclusion.

...Not gonna lie to make myself look better: I think I fully understood about half of that. Still, it sounds like that might go a ways towards explaining why we're all here. Maybe another effect of the, err, clashing realities might be whatever feedback reaches out to further different realities and draws in bits of them as well; namely, the displaced part of the population here.

If you're going to investigate the extra hour, try to be armed when you do. It's dangerous, to put it mildly. The creatures in it are kinda dumb, at least.

I have been told. Nothing but blobs of various shapes and sizes. But if they swarm, their intelligence matters very little. I plan to obtain a weapon as soon as possible.

And your theory about the clashing realities perhaps being the cause of our arrivals is actually quite interesting. I will file it away under the possibilities.

Ah. It was just an offhand thought, but if you want to keep it, by all means.

I'd offer suggestions on where to find something, but I never looked into it too much myself. Someone was telling me about a gun shop before, though. Not sure if that suits your needs.
