i know people leave sometimes, but isn't this kind of weird?

as far as i can tell, they're just gone.
disappeared.
now you see them, now you don't.
like some kind of magic trick.

The same war against the shadows that we fight every evening, of course. Men go missing all the time in those kind of situations.

i mean, i know people disappear sometimes, but are you actually suggesting that the shadows are eating them or something?

It is a possibility, is it not?

i could see that if it were just one or two people.
but seriously about ten people have disappeared in the last three days.
i mean, is it time for the shadow picnic?
have they just quit weight watchers?

That or we're seeing a change in their tactics.

so now they're just going to make us all disappear?
then why'd they bring us here in the first place?
and who is they?
do we even know that yet?

No, but what we do know is that there is one group that seems to test us, or act as rather annoying benefactors, and then there are the more or less mindless and malicious things that we fight. Two factions, if you will, though possibly working in concert, or one manipulating the other. I was speaking solely of our immediate foes.

the shadows?
but i go out during the dark hour a lot.
and i haven't noticed anything strange about them.
they haven't gotten stronger, or more violent, or anything else.
so why are there suddenly all these disappearances?

Who knows. It is possible to be overwhelmed if you venture too deep, or alone, into certain areas. Perhaps they were attacked by something unfamiliar, something we have not seen yet. In battle, losses are best ascribed first to your enemy, second to random chance, and only last to another party. Still, it bears investigation.

if that's the case, then the rest of us have work a lot harder to figure this place out.

every now and then we'd lose one or two.
but not like this.
a lot of people vanished really quickly this time.

I was wondering why the contact list shrank so suddenly.
So they vanish without a trace?
Do we have any idea where they go?

there's a bunch of different theories floating around.
but no one really knows.

some people think they were sent home.
i'm hoping they're right.
but there's other people who think they might have been taken out by shadows.
or were kidnapped.

It is a fairly credible possibility, after all, is it not? I would not want to discard the thought of it that easily.

there's no reason to think that something bad happened just because they're gone.
or at least it's just as likely that something good happened instead.
and we were all brought here pretty abruptly.
it makes sense for us to leave the same way.

We were not given any reason as to why were taken to this place either way, so perhaps it was a mere whim that is releasing us now as well.

I do not think that explanation is that strange.
