[He followed an Earthling, and now look where it got him. Sure, their habits were rubbing off on him, but his actions were in good conscious and all. The only problem now was he didn't know where he was, and from his point of view, everything in this city was far too obsolete. He found a communicator of some sort, but he wasn't sure if it was going to work. He didn't even know if anyone was around because the part of the city he ended up in looked to be abandoned.

Sigh.

Standing here wasn't going to do anything for him. He had to try, even though he could have just went peacefully and sat here until he died. Again, another problem for him was that he felt his body feel alive. His body didn't feel like a weapon, and it just struck even more confusion in him.

Being on another planet though? No biggie. He didn't care. After exploring the Star Ocean, he was used to finding himself on different planets.

Now he just had to find out where he was, and if he could leave.

It must be the bad karma. It must be. Otherwise he wouldn't be here right now. He wouldn't be here, fidgeting with this device if it wasn't for his bad karma.

Ah well. He manages to get this thing to work after a few tweaks, and on the feed, the person on the other side will notice that Arumat is not human. And that he looks a bit angry.]

To anyone who receives this transmission...

It seems to appear that I'm on a different planet. Those who know where we are, I'd like to know what planet this is, and if I can leave.

Most of us have been here for months, though I think there are a few of us that have been here for a year.

Tell me about Earth. I've had experience with a few Earthlings, but I was never informed much of their world.

Let's see... The year is 2012, and things are reasonably advanced around this time. There are a number of large cities in countries such as America, Britain and Russia, though there are still places that are very poor and lack most of the things you'll find around here.

I... still don't know much about this time, but technology has allowed communication and transport between countries to be simple and stores provide us with most of the necessities we would need, though you need to get the money to buy them first.

All seems obsolete. Though I guess that's a good thing for this world.

[Okay. So he's not even in the same time period he was in before. This was going to be interesting.]

It appears that I've gone back in time. Is this normal for other people here?

Yep! I'm from about 2300 or so, and I know people who are from even further forward in time than me. And there are those who have been pulled forward in time by being brought here.

[Hm.] Might as well ask, but do monsters exist in this world?

Yes, but they only appear at midnight and during something we call the 'Dark Hour'. They're these dark blobs called 'Shadows'.

Shadows, huh?

[They sound like phantoms. He didn't want to deal with this again.]

Will regular weapons do against these monsters?

... Yes, sometimes. Though there are some that are immune to weapons, and that's where a Persona comes in handy. A Persona is... a being that you can summon to aid you in fighting the Shadows.

This is an Earthling thing? Edge never spoke of anything called a Persona.

It seems to be a thing that only people who are brought here experience. I had never heard of it before being brought here and I'm a, um, Earthling.

And how does this "Persona" look like?

It varies, since everyones Persona looks different. My Persona is... a humanoid rainbow basically, and I know someone who has one that's basically a skeleton riding a horse.

No. They're completely unaware of the Personas and Shadows. Only the people who are brought here have this power.

At least they're not hurt. We don't need unnecessary deaths.
