31: Put a ring on it (accidental video)

[Saori has closed the tea house for the day and is up in the base, lying down on the couch. When she had placed the phone down on the coffee table, she wasn't aware it was recording. If anyone notices, they might see a gold band on her left ring finger.]

Ughh...what am I going to do? At the rate I'm going, Hiyono and the others are going to get burned out since I don't have that many people working here to rotate shifts. I'd rather have people on the network work here than the locals. I don't want to look like I'm discriminating them but I can make sure everyone has some sort of income here.

Hm? What's that flashing li--ack! It's been recording this whole time?! I was gonna do a proper post and then!

[She reaches over to shut off the phone but misses ends up falling off the couch. Her hand is back in the frame and she sits up.]

...I'm okay. I've been through worse.

Well since this is filming, I guess now's a good time to offer to be anyone's sparring partner if there are people interested.

[She laughs sheepishly.]

Still it would be nice to have some kind of lead.

By the way, is that ring some kind of decoy for that, or did you elope with somebody?

Well, I was supposed to be engaged when I was back home for that short period of time. Except I was brought back before he could even ask, but I would've said yes.

Jeez, that's crappy timing. Good for you when you eventually get back, I guess.

[Saori laughs softly, rubbing her head sheepishly.]

Even after how many years, I still manage to go back into my overworking habits. I can't help it, I love running this tea house. Tea's what helped me through a lot of things.

Sometimes you need to relax, but I get you. Everyone's got a passion.

I know, but I promise I'll relax a bit more once I get things resolved with the tea house.

What kinda help're you lookin' for?

It's mostly helping up in the front since I usually take care of the pastries and other food goods.

Far out. If it helps you rest, I'm totally in. Gotta spread the peace and joy around. Y'know?

[ Yuri chuckles before turning on a slightly more serious face ]

A sparring partner?

That's right. Shadows can be tough but a human opponent makes things challenging when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.

If that's the case, I'll be glad to spar with you. I've been wanting someone to train with myself.

Sure, I don't see anything wrong with that. Oh, I don't think I ever introduced myself to you. I'm Saori.

What sort of sparring are you looking for?

Mostly hand to hand combat. Shadows provide some challenge only if they're super resistant to physical attacks. Also challenging someone outside a Shadow keeps skills and the mind sharp.

Shadows?

[Guess who's bedtime is 10:00 pm]

They're these creatures that appear only at midnight and during that hour. During that time, the locals are transformed into coffins and aren't aware of this nightly phenomenon. For some reason, we aren't affected by it so the shadows often come at us.

I'd be happy to spar with you if you need someone.

...Do you need some help with the tea house?

I wasn't expecting a lot of people interested in sparring. I'd be glad to!

Yeah, I'm a little short on workers and I'm afraid I might be burning out my current ones. So...how's the bookstore coming along?

Since Archer took it upon himself to disappear, ownership of it has shifted to me. It is nothing that I can not handle, so if you need my help I'll offer it to you.

Are you absolutely sure? Extra help is always appreciated, so thank you. I just don't want you to overwork yourself. After all, you're doing more than just running a bookstore.
