33: Ever seen a flying shadow? [video]

[It's the Dark Hour when the feed starts but not by the user's hand and it's the door that leads to Caliban. Saori stands outside looking at the place before attempting to open the door. She pulls but it's locked tight.]

That's odd, Caliban won't open up now? I wonder...

[She takes a step back and BAM! delivers a strong kick to the door which doesn't even budge the door. In fact, it was the opposite effect she wanted. Guess who's on the ground, holding her foot?]

Ow ow ow!!!.....Diarama!

[While she's healing up her foot, a larger shadow approaches from behind. Without even looking up, Saori spoke.]

I'm getting really sick...of everything changing all of a sudden! No new answers about why we're here or anything else. And you are not helping!

[Wait, is that a killing aura coming from her? The poor shadow doesn't see that kick coming that sends it flying. When it becomes nothing more than twinkle in the sky, the feed ends.]

Well, there was that first blunder of me failing open Caliban's doors. Plus I actually don't like showing my moves like that. People would get the wrong impression after all.

The impression that you're strong?

Uh, not quite. More like they might think I'm posting such things on purpose to get attention and bragging rights. But that's actually rather silly of me to even think that.

I doubt anyone would assume that.

I guess I needed to let some stress out with everything that's been going on lately.

Yeah, things have been going pretty weird lately... First those weird dreams and cards, now getting those keys and all these changes... [April sighs quietly.]

The dreams and the cards I can handle because it sounds like something that could possibly come from my world or it's spirit realm. The sudden retcons with the residences is very disturbing to say the least.

Yep, they are. Though there's not much we can do for now, except wait and see.

Yeah, I'm normally a patient person but even this is getting on my nerves. I wonder what's the point of this though.

No clue. I just hope it's nothing bad, whatever this is... And I'm hoping we'll be able to see those Velvet Room people again soon.

Same here. So far they've been able to contact us but it would be nice to be the ones to initiate contact. Like why did they decide to contact us now or if they know anything about Personas?

Also...that man in the Velvet Room. Igor, was it? Is it bad that I thought his nose reminded me of Kaiji? Well, his wasn't that long but, you know what I mean.

Hopefully we'll get answers from them sometime.

... And no, it kinda reminded me of Kaiji too. Though that Igor's nose makes me more worried about someone getting poked with it, since it's that long.

Let's hope they stick around long enough to actually engage with in conversation rather than dropping exposition on us.

True that. I wonder why they've been only to contact us through our dreams though. We've never seen them on the island.

Maybe it's cause they... exist on a different plane or something? Like a spirit world of some sort.

That's a definitely a possibility. Normally I would be able to sense something but I guess it's because I'm back in a physical body, my abilities have been negated.

[He's not going to say anything... so have some applause Saori.]

[She laughs sheepishly.]

When I was back home, because I didn't have a physical body to restrain me after I died, I could unlock my soul power and other things like increased strength. I figured because I'm considered alive here, it would've been completely nullified.

It's still a part of who you are, and training is never wasted. It may have increased your physical strength a bit. That and you've been working hard here.

Yeah, it did really help. I didn't focus as much in sword wielding, but I'm much more prepared in battle compared to when I arrived here. Maybe, but last time I checked, a normal human wouldn't be able to punt anything that far a distance like that.

No, that is a bit of a thing to keep in mind. Perhaps this place is slipping in locking all of our abilities.

Maybe, but if it means their hold on us are slipping...wouldn't those who were technically dead before arriving here be...

Maybe it was just a fluke after all.

[She laughs nervously.]

[As someone who is dead in his canon and doesn't get to be a ghost or anything, he'll just not comment on that.]

Maybe. I guess it's easy enough to test out. It may just be during the dark hour too.

I've seen how the Dark Hour returns some people to their original form, but I haven't heard of anyone regaining their powers during that time. I'll definitely have to keep trying if I can pull this off again.

Hmmm, I hope it wasn't just a fluke. It would be useful if we got some of our original powers back.

[Sorry Saori, you're not seeing anything here, only his laughs.]

More like it was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fighting shadows is rather cathartic.

To be able to kick it that far is more of barbaric than cathartic, I say.

I highly doubt the door to Caliban being so stubborn is much of a good sign, either. Especially as it doesn't seem to have affected the presence of the Shadows.

*As if to underline his point, he casually moves his head to allow a fireball to pass him and send a Shadow that had been trying to sneak up on him flying.*

True. Still I find it odd we haven't dealt with a particularly super strong shadow in a while. It's been nothing but small fry so far.

I had begun to wonder about that myself. The explanation I was given on my arrival claimed that the moon effects typically ended with the appearance of an unusually strong Shadow, but I've yet to see an example of such myself.

As for that last Shadow, I would be a poor military commander if I was the sort to allow something so pitiful to catch me off guard.

I'm sure we'll be dealing with one eventually. Maybe there are bigger ones in Caliban...whenever we can get it open, that is.

That's very true. Maybe one of these days we should have a sparring match.

I'll have to take you up on that at some point. Perhaps after we find out what exactly is sealing those doors.

No Personae, so it'll be just our own skills. I'm looking forward to that already.

Agreed, it wouldn't be worth it if it just came down to a matter of which one of us has had more time to develop our Persona. Of course, that still leaves the question of what kinds of weapons are allowed.

I mostly do hand to hand but I know how to wield a sword. I have no qualms about sparring an armed opponent though.

I'm capable in both, but I have a distinct preference for a blade. Since you have no objections, that's more than likely what I'll be using.
