Sixth Gambit

*David is sitting inside what looks like an office when the phone turns on, propped up against something on his desk. He's smiling, hands folded in front of him on the desk.*

It's taken a little while, but I think it's about time my patience pays off. I haven't brought it up often because it's not exactly relevant here, but where I come from, I'm the owner of a multi-billion dollar company. And as interesting as it's been to experience things as part of the working class, I think it's time to move back to a position I'm more used to.

Next month, I plan to re-launch Xanatos Enterprises, a company that has and will dabble in everything from medicine to technology to even advanced genetics.

*He stands up and walks to look out of a glassless, arched window behind his desk.*

Of course, before any of that can happen, I'll need employees. And that's where all of you come in.

*He returns to stand behind his chair, resting one hand on the back of it.*

I already have a good number of potentials from the regular citizens of this place, but I'm giving priority to the Persona-using population. Obviously, I'm going to need experts in the fields I mentioned before, but I'm also looking to hire for the more mundane positions any business needs to run smoothly. People with good organizational skills are an absolute must, and I'd love to have some of the more physically inclined among you as security guards.

I'd be wiling to offer flexible hours that take Dark Hour participation into account, as well as no-questions-asked days off by request during moon events. Not to mention staples like health insurance and vacation time.

*He sits back in his chair and re-folds his hands.*

And since I'm feeling generous, I'm going to offer you something that wasn't available to people back home: a chance to invest. Naturally, every dollar that you offer will go towards improving Xanatos Enterprises, and your return will be directly proportionate to the success of the business.

No catch. Unless you count the fact that I think there's more potential in a group of people from multiple unique worlds than in one who probably haven't even set foot outside of their own home country.

Suppose it wouldn't kill me to get a source of income a little more legitimate than my current one. I'm not much for the technical positions, but if you want security you got it.

So are we talking 'disabling intruders' security or 'aim for the head' security?

I would prefer non-lethal violence if possible.

As much as I'm sure it would deter other thieves and vandals, keep in mind that automatic lethal force would violate the local laws. Not to mention the bounds of tasteful judgement.

Not as fast as it seems. I've actually been working on this for a while without mentioning it.

Still, compared to the time it's taken for some companies to reach that level of wealth... Achieving this much in less than a year is practically an overnight success, don't you think?

*He shrugs.*

Compared to what I had back home, this is small time. I guess you can just say I have a talent for achievement.

That's some talent, especially if your company is even bigger at home...

Sorry, I'm not used to having dealings with people so high up in society. The thought of such a large company in such a little time is already mind-blowing to me.

Oh, you know, the usuals that any business needs to thrive. Paperwork, security, middle-management, maybe some help with PR and related areas.

Might I ask what your interest in genetics is?

Considering a secretary of some sort? I think I'll need it as of now.

Not quite big, I just enjoy observing them in general.

The position is open, just as long as my personal assistant from home doesn't arrive.

Now, I don't think a little ambition is a bad thing to show. Just as long as you don't get any ideas about taking my place. It wouldn't be Xanatos enterprises if it wasn't run by a Xanatos, after all.

This next question would be a bit personal, but what is your purpose on reenacting your enterprise here?

I have a few reasons. Partly familiarity, partly influence, partly untapped potential. Just think of how useful the resources of a major corporation could be in our situation. And aside from that, just think what could be accomplished with specialists from entire different universes cooperating as part of a single team.

What do I have in mind? Nothing really, just an ordinary young man's way of thinking of grabbing sacks of money.

A little bit of work with genetically engineered crops and livestock, but mostly treatment of genetic defects and hereditary diseases.

And how far do you intend to take it, and what kind of safe guards will you have so that your research can't be used for, well, slightly unsavory ends.

Medicine, machines, and bioengineering isn't your average mom and pop store, yaknow. Shouldn't you kinda... focus? At the start anyway.
