1st Shot -- [Accidental Video]

[The video flicks on. First appearance, the camera is staring at a sidewalk. The camera turns up and shows Gilbert, staring down at the device, a puzzled look on his face.]

What is...?

[The video turns again, showing the sidewalk a second time.]

First these new surroundings and now this?!

[There's a pause as the video jerks, showing a pair of black boots now.]

And where the hell is Oz?!

[Gilbert turns the device over. He looks irritated for a split second but there's an odd look on her face. Is... is she sick?]

... are you alright?

[Madoka breathes a relieved sigh and gives a slow nod.]

Y-Yes... I will be now! It's just... those sudden change of angles were giving me motion sickness.

[Gilbert stares at the phone for a moment before a sigh leaves his mouth.]

Ah, you must be from a world that doesn't have this technology... This is a phone---Something used for long-distance communication. It's really nice because you can see the other person's face when you're talking to them.... Everyone who's pulled to Prospero has one.

[Gilbert looks around.]

There's a sign across the road here that says, "Felix's Finds".

[Immediately, Madoka's eyes light up with recognition when he tells her the name. This was going to be easier than she thought!]

Oh! That weapon shop! I know just where that is! Just wait a moment, please, and I will be there shortly. I-If you'll excuse me, then...

[After a small and quick polite bow, the screen goes back as she hangs up and leaves her dorm room to meet up with him.]

[When the screen goes black, Gilbert stalls for a minute before putting the phone in his pocket and waits. He also pulls out a cigarette and starts smoking. He certainly won't be trying to quit any time soon.]

[The shop was only a short distance away from the Academy, so it was only a matter of minutes for Madoka to reach there on foot. That matter of minutes is shortened with her jogging all the way, with only one more minute added to cross the street. She finally reaches Gilbert's location, stopping to catch her breath a bit.]

I... I'm sorry... I hope I didn't make you wait too long, um...

[Pause. Oh. Wait... She didn't get his name, did she?]

Ah! Please excuse me! I forgot to introduce myself. M-My name is Madoka Kaname. It's very nice to meet you, sir!

[She crosses her hands in front of her, and gives a very formal Japanese bow in greeting upon reflex. Old habits die hard even when in another country, and this very much rings true for the overly polite Madoka.]

[Gilbert sees her approach and puts out the cigarette butt on the sidewalk before she can get there. Hey, he doesn't have an ashtray. And he just doesn't care right now.]

No, it's alright.

[Gilbert is a little surprised by the bowing and it shows for a moment. Then he gives a very slight bow in return, to be polite.]
