[It's a few hours before midnight. The screen turns on, revealing what looks like a weary man in his late 20s, though his tired demeanor pushes his apparent age a little further than that. He wastes no time in starting to speak, deciding that this is no time for formalities. While Kiritsugu Emiya would normally opt to reveal himself only through a voice, he no longer believes himself to have any real enemies, and he wishes to see the faces of other people trapped in this place.]

I gather we're in the United States, or at least a technologically superior version of it.

[This is what happens when you take a guy from the 90s.]

However, apart from a name, I haven't gathered any details regarding this city. At this point, I would like to ask: what is going on?

[Well, he'd been fair and given all the required information. Bitter though he still was, Lancer had no wish to continue the Holy Grail War here.]

I'd like to know your name, if you'd be willing to give it.

[Whether Lancer liked him or not, he wanted to find out exactly who it was that had earned his irritation and anger.]

[He's no longer quite as wary as he was months ago, but he's still not willing to give out his full name to a complete stranger, especially in a situation such as this.]

[Well, he finally had a name to associate with the face. Even if Kiritsugu already knew him, it was only fair that Lancer do the same. He didn't particularly like hiding, but he doubted the former Master would have listened to a word he said otherwise. And considering they were in the same metaphorical boat, he did want to help.]

Diarmuid. [He gave the camera a flat, even stare.] As for additional details, I think you can see clearly that it gets a little more complicated from here.

[No surprise. Not for more than a second, anyways. Instead, what Lancer gets is a stoic expression slowly turning into one of resigned hatred. He had escaped this life, damn it. Why was it still chasing him? Was this some sort of punishment for his actions as a killer?]

[He reaches for the off button, regretting his decision to talk with him oh so much. While Lancer may have cast away his grudge (or at least partially so), Kiritsugu Emiya still holds little love for the Heroic Spirits he's always held disdain for, the memories of a past he's been trying to forget, and the system that allowed them to come to be. Were this either of Lancer's Masters, perhaps he would display some regret, but from his point of view, Servants from the Fourth War were chess pieces in a game that took his life away.]

[Kiritsugu can't help but wish the cell phone would shut down more quickly. Not because this gives Lancer some time to speak in, but because the more he sees the face in front of him, the more he hates himself.]

I'll state this plainly: if I had a serious problem with you, I wouldn't have told you all that. So instead of panicking, you're welcome to ask whatever else you might want to try and find the answer to.

Everyone here is in the same situation. I don't like you--that doesn't mean I won't help you as far as information goes if nothing else.
