He wastes no time in starting to speak, deciding that this is no time for formalities. While Kiritsugu Emiya would normally opt to reveal himself only through a voice, he no longer believes himself to have any real enemies, and he wishes to see the faces of other people trapped in this place.]

I gather we're in the United States, or at least a technologically superior version of it.

However, apart from a name, I haven't gathered any details regarding this city. At this point, I would like to ask: what is going on?

I think we're both enjoying things. He used to be in the archery club before a disagreement with the vice-captain. Now he spends too much time helping out the student council and other clubs with repairs. Ah, and his grades are doing well.

[It'll still be about a year until Kiritsugu Emiya starts teaching his son magic. As things stand, he's still very adamant about not doing so, but he's aware of what kind of magecraft Shirou specializes in. He knows what's going on.]

I suppose I'll find out. I told him to use his skills for the benefit of other people, and it looks like he took my advice.

While that's a noble goal, I think he took your advice too much to heart. I'm hoping that with you here, he might take better care of himself, as well.

[Well, that confirms it. Shirou's on the fast-track to going through the same things he did. If his son holds on to the same ideal as him for the rest of his life, his despair is all but guaranteed.]

[At least, that's the way Kiritsugu sees it.]
