This phone is so much smaller than it should be. I wonder how far advanced this place is...

[Ordinary technology, no magic, what was this place? She'd spent plenty of time raging already. More than enough. She had to find him. Although the woman's voice is rather ordinary, there is an odd coldness to it. She speaks like an aristocrat, authorative and cool.]

Excuse me. My name is Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri. [A pause to let that elaborate name sink in.] You may call me "Lady Sophia-Ri", or- [Her voice softens a little.] If my Servant, or my fiancè happen to be at the other end of this call, you may call me Sola. Please do respond.

I doubt there is an easy way out of this place. However, if there is, I would be delighted to hear of it. I am sure my dear fiancè would be willing to offer a reward to one who would help me in this situation.

[And then a brief pause before she adds.] If you happen to be the owner of this phone, please return the call and claim it. I will repay you for the use of it once I manage to acquire the means to.

Lastly, and I do appreciate your patience - I'm looking for a man. [...] A particular one. With dark hair and a mark below his eye. If you have seen him, please do respond immediately. It is imperative that I find him.

Ah, then that's good. I know someone of that description, but since he's on bad terms with his master, I can rest assured that no one who will bother him has arrived.

[He'll just let that sink in and ignore the last part.]

[On bad terms? Then was Lancer angry with Kayneth for some reason? Certainly he could not be on bad terms with her. Or was it someone else similar? Surely others having birthmarks there were possible.]

It must surely be. I would hate to see anyone cause him pain for any reason. He is my friend, after all, and I take that seriously.

This Lancer of yours matches the description of my servant? Such an odd name... Why would anyone call their child "Lancer"?

My name, as I have said, is Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri. I am not a Master. I have not even a magic crest to my name. However, my fiancè Lord Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi is the Master of the aforementioned Lancer.

And you are breaking the rules of the Mage's Association by publically discussing the war. I would walk carefully, if I were you.

Let me be polite and inform you of a few things.

Your fiancè is not in the city. You may not contact him, regardless of whether you try to call him or physically visit where he should be living. It's as if he never existed. Therefore, threatening me with him won't work. By my guess, that goes for the entire Mage's Association.

Even if you had a magic crest, it wouldn't function, nor does any spell you could think of. Your powers are the same as mine, that of an ordinary human. I don't need to fear you just because you're a magus.

If I feel like you're upsetting my friend, Master or not, I will find the need to step in. Walk carefully.

I am not threatening you with him, believe me.

Then since you have been polite, let me also inform you of a few more things. Kayneth is useless at this current time as it is. He is no longer worthy of being called a Magus. While the Mage's Association is not active, I am still a representative of it, however, and magic or not I will find a way to silence those that seek to break the rules we have set down. You, as an ordinary person, have no right to know of our existence.

My point regarding the magic crest was simple. I am incapable of becoming a Master. Therefore your suspicions are unwarranted.

And I would never, under any circumstances, bring Lancer harm!

I have no right? I've lived in Fuyuki all of my life, and you've chosen it as the battleground for your foolish war and put my classmates, my friends, my family at risk. And I have no right to know of the danger we are in just so that one person can get their wish? You want to silence me for breaking the rules I never agreed to?

Hm, I wonder. Are you sure you haven't harmed him already?

You have no right. The Mage's Association exists to ensure our safety from people like you. You, who have no talent or power, have no right to intrude upon our life. We've cultivated our powers for centuries, while you did nothing but dream and complain. Through pain and suffering and isolation, we've kept our way going. And all in search of this goal. Your one small town is nothing compared to that.

[Her voice softens, a note of adoration entering it.]

...and that, is nothing compared to him. I would die before I harmed him.

I don't see much pain and suffering. I see a close-minded woman who assumes that someone not exactly like her is worthless and has done nothing to achieve goals of their own. Someone who assumes she's superior because she happened to be born into a family of magi and not a family of monks. Perhaps you're isolated because no one else can stand you?

You truly are a fool, aren't you?

[Her voice holds a note of amusement.]

You know nothing of we mages and the things we go through out of duty. We choose to avoid your kind. You mindless sheep that cluster together and gossip or flee when there is trouble.

Magic is best kept known only to those that can use it. And if there are a few sacrifices along the way? Let there be. But when the Holy Grail is ours, we will show you the benefits of our accomplishment.

We hold the strongest card, after all.

I'd try to say what you truly are, but there are no terms for it as polite as 'fool'.

Perhaps I know nothing of mages. It's just as likely that you know nothing of being a good person. I know which I would rather be.

You claim me to be a bad person? How foolish. I am the exact opposite of that.

At any rate, a weak child throwing a tantrum is not worth my time. Whatever wrong Kayneth has done to Lancer, I will make up for it tenfold.

'It doesn't matter if a small town or two is sacrificed' does not exactly strike me as something a good person would say. Perhaps you should reevaluate your standards.

You misinterpret my words. Do not think there is such a person as would not willingly sacrifice something to gain anything as great as that. Sometimes it is necessary. However...

Tell me. Do you think the Grail would fail to choose if we mages did not step in? No, it would call those who had little or no training in magic, and then there would be true chaos in your town. The Mage's Association stops unnecessary deaths and disasters by preventing mages from causing them. At the same time, it safeguards our existence. That is why Kayneth and I are involved in the Grail War. It is not just for prestige.

We keep your town safe from harm during our war, so that only we of magic lineage sacrifice. We risk our lives, and we do it in secret. Nobody should be sacrificed.

If you said that first, before you started calling me a fool, saying that non-magi were inferior, and talking about silencing me for such minor things as speaking of this war of yours in public, I would be less inclined to treat you with loathing.

You approach me, accusing me of mistreating Lancer and of putting your town at risk while admitting knowing nothing of us. And yet you expect me to be anything less than insulting in return?

I have evidence that Lancer's masters have been unkind in the past, and my assumptions have not yet been disproven. As far as my town, people completely unrelated to the war have died because of it - it is at risk and you cannot deny that. Furthermore, I didn't threaten to kill you!

As I said already. I am not his Master.

And nor did I threaten death upon you. You assumed that factor yourself. "Silence" does not always mean "murder".

When Caster started to murder people, it was we who decided to unite to hunt him down. We who spared the rest of the town from their fate. Does that sound like the actions of someone who wishes death upon you?

It certainly isn't very friendly.

Perhaps not wishing death, but if it was more convenient, you wouldn't care much.
