[The video feed turns on to show the very worried face of a young girl. Getting knocked unconscious was already bad enough, but Madoka didn't recognize this area at all. It was way different from the vibrant town of Mitakihara. To pile more things onto her heap of worries, she had no idea how the ordeal of Kyouko and Sayaka's witch ended up. Did everything go as they had hoped? Maybe they were here too... She didn't like using other people's belongings, but it was the fastest way to get her bearings.]

Um... My name is Madoka Kaname, and I go to Mitakihara Middle School. I don't know where I am... So, I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what's going on. [She gives a nod to substitute for a polite bow.] Th-Thank you very much for listening to this.

[With that, Madoka shuts off the phone and waits for Homura's arrival, many worries being her only company for the time being.]

[She won't have to wait long. Homura's just running down the stair case and coming out of the hotel.]

Madoka. [It's... very strange to see you again, but it's nice too.]

[Wow, she was closer than Madoka had thought. Sadly, this is just a shy and normal Madoka, not the motherly omnipotent Goddess Madoka.]

Homura-chan... Why are we here? Do you know what happened to Kyouko-chan?

[She's still Madoka to Homura.]

Tell me exactly what happened before you came here.

[It was strange. Even though Homura wasn't there to see what happened, Madoka expected her to know. So she was surprised by the request. Her expression darkens visibly as she recalls the past events.]

Um... Sayaka-chan, she... became a witch. Kyouko-chan told me that maybe if we tried talking to her, she could change back, so I decided to go with her. But then I got grabbed by Sayaka-chan, and then...

[She trails off in a pause, then continues:]

... I blacked out. I'm sorry, that's all I can remember...

[So this Madoka was from the past.

... It would be best not to talk about anything from the future then.]

Kyoko sacrificed herself. They're both dead.

[The news hits Madoka like a ton of bricks.]

Kyouko... died...?

[Sayaka didn't change back into a person? Horror was clearly written all over her face, and she felt like she was about to puke. Tears ran freely down her face as Madoka felt her legs give way, and slid to her knees on the concrete.]

N-No way... That's not right... That's too terrible! It's not fair! Kyouko-chan really believed in Sayaka-chan, and was determined to bring her back! So why... Why did this have to happen?!

[Homura's demeanor doesn't change. She's still looking calm and collected.

With kindness comes naivety. Courage becomes foolhardiness. And dedication has no reward.]

That's not how the world works.

[That was the harsh truth that had been shown to Madoka several times, but she still didn't want to accept it. It was too cruel to accept.]

But... I feel like this all could have been avoided somehow! Maybe... if I had become a Puella Magi, none of this would've happened...

[Her jaw clenches and she has to fight to keep her hands from fisting.]

You wouldn't have avoided anything that way.

[How could Homura be so cruel?! These were people's lives they were talking about. Madoka looked up, ready to confront her about this, but then...

She noticed something different about the girl standing before her. Madoka blinks, momentarily forgetting her tears.]

Homura-chan... That ribbon...

[And it's Madoka's life that would have been sacrificed. That's something she wasn't willing to accept.

When Madoka mentions the ribbon though... She can't explain this to her. Not yet.]

What about it?

[It looked... familiar, somehow. Though Madoka wasn't sure how to tell this to her.]

I-It's nothing, it's just... don't remember you ever wearing that before.

[She pauses, remembering the subject at hand, and pushes herself off the ground to get back on her feet. After brushing the dust off her skirt, she continues.]

Kyouko-chan... She told me about Walpurgisnacht... But, how can we stop it if we're all the way in America?

It's been dealt with. [That's all Homura wants to say about that.]

Eh?! Real... ly...?

[Maybe Madoka had been out cold longer than she thought. Naive as she is, she believes what Homura tells her and lets assumptions fill the gaps.]

[Though still teary-eyed, Madoka manages a smile.]

I-I'm relieved... Everyone at home will be safe, then...

[That relief was short-lived, however. The smile slides back into seriousness.]

But, I still feel sorry for Mami-san and the other Puella Magi. I... for as long as I live, I won't forget them. Ever.

I know they'll all appreciate that.
