[Text/Action for April and anyone else who wants it]

The assumption that the dead return after one week is incorrect. I was indisposed for nearly two weeks, with no sign as to why this was any different from other cases.

By the way, April, I am typing this from the hotel lobby. I suspected finding me at our door would be a worse shock.

[Ledah seems much calmer, and raises a hand in greeting.]

It's good to see you safe.

[There's still a faint look of shock on her face and she opens her mouth to say something, before she closes it again. There were a few things she wanted to say, but she had no idea what to say first.

So, she walks up to Ledah and wraps her arms around him in a hug instead.]

[Ledah had a vague understanding that she needed to do this. He pats her on the shoulder gently, not pushing her away.]

[She doesn't pull away just yet, for now just resting her forehead against his shoulder. When she finally does speak, she sounds tired but also happy and relieved.]

... I'm really glad you're back.

Thank you. I apologize for the long wait.

Don't apologize for that, it's not like you could control it. I'm just happy you're back.

[April sounds a bit more cheerful as she says that, though her tone soon turn somber.]

A-anyway, I should be the one apologizing... It's my fault that you were-[She stops in the middle of her sentence when her vision blurs over, before she tries to blink it away.]

It was the practical decision to protect you, when you would have been more useful during the later fight than I. I have no regrets about what happened.

Even if it was the practical decision, I shouldn't have let you get killed like that. I should've done something. [Her attempts to blink away the blurriness only result in tears running down her face, so she pulls away a bit to rub at her eyes with one hand, while making sure to keep her head down.]

It was my decision to do so. Blaming yourself won't change what happened, nor be of any future use.

[This is a very confusing situation for him.]

... I know. It's just... you're my friend and the fact that I couldn't do anything to help you has been eating away at me, even though I know feeling like that won't be any help at all.

[Now she pulls away from him completely, still keeping her head down since now she feels a bit sheepish.]

... But you're back now, and that's what matters.

[Emotions are complicated and a weakness. Hadn't he thought so?]

Even so... I'm glad that we're friends.

[Now she looks up at him and blinks in surprise for a moment or two, before smiling brightly, now looking genuinely happy.]

I'm glad we're friends, too... To be honest, I think you're one of my closest friends here.

I'm not sure that I've been anyone's closest friend anywhere.

[He looks confused. How does he do this friendship thing?]

[She sees that confused look, and gives him a reassuring look back.] Well, there's not really much to it. Just keep being yourself, since that's the reason why I like you.

I see. I will do that.

[She smiles a bit more, now looking more like her usual self, even if she does still look a bit tired.]

... Oh, um, do you want to head up to the room? I can promise that I didn't make a completely mess of it while you were gone.

I wouldn't mind. [And he didn't suspect that of her at all.] Let's.

[So back up to the room they go! And while the room is still in-tact, the table in there is kinda covered in books and pieces of paper April has written notes on, which she goes to tidy up a bit.]

Ah, sorry, I should've cleaned this up a bit earlier.

That's fine. I don't need everything to be pristine. [He sort of flooomphs on the bed, looking tired.]

[She glances towards him when he flooomphs on the bed.]

Tired?

It takes something out of you, dying. Give me a moment.

[She gives him a faint look of concern, but still nods.]

... Ah, okay.

[And she goes to sort out the notes on the table, though she'll glance back at him occasionally.]

...How have matters been since I left you?

[Not moving from the bed.]

... Fine. Once the big Shadow was killed, everything calmed down and went back to normal. Though now it's like all that zombie stuff never happened; the natives that were killed came back and there's absolutely no records about any of the killings or the zombies.

[She spends a few more moments sorting out the notes, before she goes to take a seat on the edge of the bed.]

Strange... The locals have remembered what happened before, if not given much thought to it.
