[November 11. Kiritsugu's birthday goes as it usually does: mundanely and celebrated by no more than three people in the building. He's mapping out any strange occurrences around town, finding himself incapable of tracing anything to Shadows. Worrisome, as the full moon means something could happen. Could, but as he's seen, not certain.]

[Pocky day it may be, but Kiritsugu finds himself able to concentrate much better with cigarettes. Lighting one up, he opens the comm.]

Has anyone made preparations for the full moon?

I've spent most of the day training or trying to find out if anything strange is going on in the town, as per usual.

I see. Shadows are never subtle about their influence, but even if nothing happens this time, that simply means we won't be making any progress.

I know. It's a problem for us either way.

[Way more emotionally involved than Kiritsugu should be, but that's because Issei is part of Shirou's social circle. Anything that involves Kerry's son merits some emotion.]

How is your son holding up?

...It affected him. He's better, now that you're alright.

[Nod. It's not verbose, and given the medium, not even noticeable beyond a small 'hm', but there's a meaning to it. He's counting on Issei to not let there be a repeat of Shirou's breakdown.]

I've not seen anything unusual. Which I suppose is in itself 'unusual' considering the standard routine.

Tell me, do you have any theories on why it's so quiet this month?

Could be the same as last time it was quiet. Prospero has proven it won't always cause incidents during full moons.

I'm not counting on it. Major Shadows have themes. This lack of trouble could be the next one's.

Or maybe we're not looking hard enough.

Considering things have been pretty... well, normal, my current plans all involve "try to enjoy the sight of a full moon."

Granted, I'm expecting them to get dashed as soon as the Dark Hour hits, but hey. A girl can dream, right?

Sounds like the sort of view that will bring bad memories with time.

Maybe. I guess the novelty hasn't worn off yet. The full moon we'd had without an excess of monsters was rather pretty, so I'm hoping for a repeat.

Shadows can't last forever. Whatever resource they're being created from must be consumed by their appearance.

The idea that you can't create something from nothing? Are you even sure that's still in effect? The Persona-thingies seem to come out of thin air and disappear just as mysteriously.

I've been training and keeping watch for anything strange around the city.

[Though Saber does have a point, it only applies under the assumption that Kiritsugu's doing this to survive. He actually doesn't mind if he's killed by a random Shadow, given that Prospero revives its inhabitants, as long as they're able to make solid process by defeating the monthly one.]

I plan to bolster the hotel's defenses. You are welcomed to assist, but if you plan against it, do know there will be no hesitation in striking you down. There are many here who cannot fight and the ones that can... they should not have to.

[Kiritsugu doesn't have a great history with hotels, but there's no use in bringing it down, despite all the magi inside it. The dungeon, however, happens to be a building during the day.]

[Kiritsugu has gathered information from enough people. Though he refuses to acknowledge the Heroic Spirit's idea with words, it's answered by the small sound of movement coming from the phone being hung up.]

[Rude, without doubt, but perhaps Saber can take solace in the fact that, for once, it's for a course of action she may support.]
