[006: Action and Video: During the Dark Hour]

Action

[When April went out during the Dark Hour, she was just expecting to fight some Shadows as usual. She was not expecting to run into a Shadow that turned into, well, herself. But it wasn't her; her doubles eyes were a cold and eerie bright gold and her expression was so... blank and emotionless; the complete opposite of how she usually is. And when her double started to speak, she did not like what she had to say.

So people out during the Dark Hour may see two Aprils standing face-to-face, the normal one glaring and on-edge while her double is impassive. Though her Shadow soon vanishes, leaving April to just blink at the empty spot in shock.]

... W-what the...?

[Sometime after the encounter with her Shadow, April decides to speak to the others in Prospero. While she tries to hide it, it's clear that she's spooked.]

So, uh, you guys remember that message we got sent a few days ago? About facing ourselves or whatever? Well, I, um, think it meant that literally; I-I saw a Shadow that turned into me a-and it said stuff only I would know...

H-has anyone else seen something like this?

[The Shadow actually giggles at this, but it's a horrible, sharp sound.] How many years have I spent hurting others, I wonder? Over a decade now I believe. That's all I've ever been good at, what we've been good at; causing pain to others. I can never do anything right, I only just hurt.

-Please, please, just shut-up... [April couldn't hide the tremble in her voice anymore.]

A worthless monster, that's all I am.

Forgive me if I don't believe that my comrade is worthless.

I have no worth, I mean nothing to anybody. I've been a hindrance to you, and others around me, despite that I still cling to you and how I place my trust in you. Isn't that pathetic, to place so much importance in others but knowing I'll never be worth as much, so I'm just a worthless bother as a result.

I am useful as a killer, as a monster, but I have no worth as a person.

That isn't true. You are a worthwhile person to have as a friend.

No, I'm not. I am worth nothing. Why would anyone else ever care for me if my own parents were willing to throw me away-

SHUT-UP! [The Shadows sentence is cut short by the pure anger and hurt in April's voice, and now she's moved so that she's standing next to Ledah and glaring right at her Shadow. She doesn't seem to notice the tears streaming down her face, as she instead focuses her all her attention on her double.]

No more, just shut-up or I swear I-I'll... [April could never hold onto anger for long, especially in a situation as disorientating as this, so it quickly disappears from her, and instead she just trembles from the horrible swell of emotions that all this has brought her.]

April.

[Ledah squeezes her hand again.]

I don't believe a word of what it's saying.

[April just blinks at him in shock, though she does squeeze his hand back and he would probably be able to feel just how much her hand is shaking.]

I only speak the truth. I try to help others, to work towards my goal to give myself meaning, to somehow be wanted despite what I am and what I've done. But in the end, I'll always be a worthless monster and that will never change.

I have no reason to listen to you any further. You speak plainly inaccurate words in an attempt to unsettle us.

It doesn't matter if you think my words are false. The one who denies me, the one standing next to you, is well aware of the truth of them, even if she doesn't wish to acknowledge it. And why would it even matter to you? I'm sure my ability to fight will not be greatly affected by any of this.

... E-enough. I've heard enough out of you. [April's voice is still shaking, but now there's some sort of strength behind her words, even thoug it's faint.]

You must not know anything about us. Fighting isn't all I value her for. [Dismissive. He knows what he thinks of April, and this Shadow cannot convince him of anything else.]

But it's all I'm good for. There is no way I'm worth more than and you're a fool to think otherwi-

[And the Shadows sentence is once again cut short by April, although this time it's due to April's fist meeting it's face with a rather loud crack. It's not strong enough to knock it down or anything, but it does send the Shadow stumbling back a few steps while April glares at it.]

H-how many times do I have to say it? Just shut-up.

... I am a Shadow, the true self. You cannot keep denying me for long. [But the Shadow disappears for now, leaving April to just glare at the now empty spot.]

...yes, I think that it deserved more than a punch in the face.

Are you all right?

I, um... [She doesn't turn towards him yet, instead she rubs at her eyes to try to stop the tears while ducking her head down, so her eyes are focused on the floor.]

... Y-yeah, I'll be f-fine.

We should go back to the hotel quickly. You're in no state to fight.

[In other words, he has no idea what to say.]

[April gives him a nod, though she still doesn't lift her head up yet.]

Y-you're right, we should head back... And, um, I-I'm really sorry about all this.

You did nothing to cause this, nor is it any great pain to me to lecture a shadow for its foolishness. There is nothing to be sorry for.

[Now she looks up at him, her expression both relieved but confused.]

Thank you. B-but it... it was right, about my parents, s-so what if everything else it said i-is true... [Though judging by her expression, she clearly doesn't want it to be true.]

[Sigh.] You are not worthless. I know that for a fact.

[Now that gets a shocked look from her, before she gives him a small nod. She's still spooked, but she's starting to calm down a bit now.]

... Thank you...

... Um, s-should we get moving?

[She gets ready to start going, but instead she fidgets for a moment before hesitantly reaching out to take his hand. Even though she's starting to calm down a bit, she's still on edge and scared.]

[So back to the hotel they go! April pretty much sticks close to him all the way back and keeps an eye on their surroundings in case her double decides to make a reappearance, though luckily it doesn't appear again.]

[Once they get inside...]

You should sit down and relax.

[She nods before taking a seat on the edge of the bed, though she's still on edge and she notices with a frown that her hands are still trembling a bit.]

... I-I'm sorry, I didn't think it would mess with me this much.
