If it's duty to a purpose I can agree with, then duty. But if that duty conflicts with something...more important then what the duty is about,then possibly desire.

Mm... Anyway, what if there was a bit of a paradox or conflict of interests. Say, for example, to do your duty would save lives, and at the same time end or ruin an equal number of them?

The world is not so black and white that I could say whether I would always choose one way or the other. Context is important.

In general, though, I would say that I more often choose to do my duty, even if it is unpleasant or thankless.

Context is important, yes. I just figured that vague phrasing would allow for a larger amount of responses, rather than force people into responding as related to a single hypothetical situation.
