[Kiritsugu can be found at different hardware shops around the city, purchasing weaponry. One would think he'd be a lot more discreet about it, acquiring them from the black market or under-the-table deals, but that is not necessary today. While purchasing live ammunition would normally cast suspicion on a person, tranquilizer ammo is not quite as incriminating, and actually easier to obtain in hunting shops than through unlawful ways.]

[Yes. Kiritsugu wants to learn more about Shadows. For the purposes of going back home, as well as protecting Shirou from any harm they may do to him, temporary as it may be. But they are not the only beings the man is worried about. Having only learned the true identity of Lord El-Melloi II recently, he thinks it would be a good idea to research him a little more, starting with his proficiency with technology. Usually, magi would be nothing short of incompetent with a gun in their hands, but there was the rare magus from a non-traditional family that defied the old ways.]
[It isn't hard to figure out who sent the magus a package, but as they had already discussed the matter, it is nothing to be suspicious about.]
[Though the ammunition has been covered, the pistol is a different matter entirely. Threading the barrel of a new pistol is a delicate matter. Having always been restricted in that regard by his Origin, Kiritsugu has little experience in actually modifying things at such a small scale, usually leaving it to his assistant. To do so in here would require the aid of a gunsmith, which is a contact he does not wish to establish at the moment. Instead, Kiritsugu has chosen a handgun from his own collection, specifically chosen for the caliber, which is ideal for a tranquilizer pistol, if not a gun.]
[However, to acquire a rifle would spell suicide for El-Melloi. He would be found out by the local authorities before he even got the chance to shoot a Shadow. In this day and age, you can't simply carry such a thing in a cliche -- that is to say, something like a musical instrument case.]
[The Magus Killer's well-acquainted with Walthers. His sniper rifle of choice happens to be one. However, the package arriving at the Clock Tower teacher's room, delivered by none other than Kiritsugu himself, is rather different. With a barrel of 3.4 inches, the P22 is known for being a particularly small gun, which should be easy to conceal. Already coming with a threaded barrel, the inclusion of a supressor was made possible, and so, Waver should have no fear of unwanted Shadows overhearing the shot, if not to the unrealistic degree portrayed in movies. 430 grams, and the aforementioned .22 LR cartridge permit the use of tranquilizer ammunition. It may not be the strongest weapon out there, but they don't even know what dose is required to bring down a Shadow, so it makes little difference.]

The only thing accompanying the firearm is a variety of midazolam darts, each carrying a different dose, and none of them noted as more important than the other. To use too small a dose will yield nothing but an enraged Shadow, and too much of it will simply kill it, rendering the effort pointless. [His guard noticeable stiffens a little, no doubt because of Asssassin's status as a Heroic Spirit, unconventional as it may be.]

Need to make sure of this first, though. Assassin scanned Kiritsugu's enigmatic figure thoroughly.
BEFORE SUDDENLY PULLING HIS SWORD TO ATTACK KIRITSUGU.]

[He does, however, recognize that Assassin must be in much better physical condition than him. In an attempt to slow him down until he at least reaches an alley of some sort, he throws an item at his face.]
[A half-empty carton of cigarettes, to be more precise. Pickiness has no place in battle.]

Guess what? After that, he gives a smug grin and sheathes his sword back into the rightful sheath and his intentions to fight are gone. He was just testing, but Kiritsugu definitely scored pretty high.
Alas, he's walking slowly to Kiritsugu. Not running after him, since if he do, that will do nothing but mark himself as the bad guy here.]

[Could really use one of those right now. Ah well. He keeps his distance, though not actively running from Assassin anymore, making sure he's not at sword range by taking a step back now and then.]
Was there a purpose to that?
[Everything about the man screams Kiritsugu's homeland. From his style of clothing, to his choice of weapon. So then, how is it that he was summoned under the title of Assassin? Was a specific catalyst used?]

[Of course, he noticed by now. Also, he keep his feet firms in his spot, considering Kiritsugu's obviously cautious of him.]

Her concentration is broken the moment she sees Kiritsugu. Great. She surmises her luck would be equivalent to that of a Lancer class if he were to notice her. Only a fool might hope for otherwise though - she knows how sharp the man is and knows he probably noticed her long before she acknowledge his presence. Even with such miracles like a sixth sense.
A moment of boldness overtakes her and so she approaches him. ]
Kiritsugu. You will speak to me.

[Kiritsugu keeps reviewing the darts he bought, making sure they're capable of a wide range of different doses. To an outsider, it would almost look like he didn't hear Saber, even if the King's assessment was right on the mark.]

[ Without restraint, she boldly makes her way towards him. ]
You will speak to me for I know how you behave around family.
[ If Shirou wanted the two of them to talk on such terms, then Saber will do what she can to ensure it happens. For one does questionable things when they are in love and if there's one heart she yearns for, it is the heart that beats loudly in the chest of a young boy named Shirou Emiya. ]

[Kiritsugu's eyes meet her at precisely the moment she implies this has anything to do with family. He... did not like that, to put it mildly. To even imply that she would have any part in it, alongside Shirou, or the memory of his wife and daughter, makes him oh-so-frustrated at this entire situation.]
[In no small part because, deep inside, she knows she may very well be right someday.]
[He wants to leave right now, but that would be nothing less than a direct declaration of rage. If he's too cope with having Saber so closely related to his son, he deems it necessary to keep treating her as a tool, if only a former one. For that purpose, he controls himself, suppressing all emotion so he can simply listen to her.]

[ A gamble. That's all this is. While she's not the type to engage in such recklessness, this is something she must do. For even though Shirou cares for her as a human being, she's still hardened steel that serves only one purpose: being his sword. Therefore, his safety takes precedent over his desires.
Saber is far from perfect. In fact, she recognizes her selfishness more and more. Shirou was the one who taught her that it was alright to want things on her own, but at what point does it become too much?
While she approaches Kiritsugu with the intent of asking a favor of him, possibly a gesture of kindness for all she's done for him in the Fourth War, for keeping his son alive, she expects none of it to matter. No, for she has to approach him as someone else entirely.
As a person who wants nothing but the best for Shirou Emiya. ]
He has taken up residence in the hotel along with the others who have come here. [ A calm observation that rings of nothing but the truth. ] If perverts and individuals with cruel intent can reside there, Shirou cannot remain there. I come before you to ask if you will take him elsewhere.
[ If there's one man in this place her beloved will listen to, it's the one she seeks to reason with. ]
I currently hold three jobs while the season is in demand for workers. [ Continuing with her calm demeanor. ] He will accept no money from me for such luxuries, but you are a man who will think nothing of it. I will provide any amount you ask of me, honestly earned--[ Added because her 'companionship' with Archer doesn't go unnoticed. ]--and will even refrain from asking where you take him.
[ If the two of them choose to leave this place, then Saber will not need to know. She just needs to make sure that Shirou is well protected. Since she's inept in her current state, she must turn to a man who won't allow anything to happen to his family. ]

[This seems to be the first time he agrees with his former Servant's assessment, even if he's not about to reveal it. Perhaps the matter of Shirou's well-being is the only field where their respective moral circles intersect. If his mind wasn't completely focused on his son right now, he would find that troubling.]
[Kiritsugu has considered moving out of the hotel several times, but has always put the value of keeping close tabs on new residents above the now-insignificant act of dying. Still, this changes things. If Shirou's in the hotel, he'll just have to resort to other methods of obtaining information.]
[Without a word, the chemicals are nonchalantly set down, to a degree that one would almost think his actions separate from Saber's words. A hand reaches into his overcoat, soon drawing what is recognizable as his cell phone. Clicking a number on speed dial, recognizable by Saber's exceptional senses, Kiritsugu waits for his son to answer.]
[He does not wish to reason with Saber, or accept any sort of aid from her. Stubborn as always when it comes to these matters, Kiritsugu believes he can care for Shirou in all respects. Being the sort of man he is, the former assassin has spent money on nothing more than the bare minimum of weaponry, food and cigarettes. He may not have the Einzbern house supporting him financially anymore, but he has the resources, both economic and mental, to acquire decent accommodations.]

And just like that woman, Saber will force a smile in a futile attempt to mask her pain. Protecting Shirou is her life. As long as he lives, then her existence is justified. ]
Thank you. [ The only time she will ever be able to say that to him. With it, she'll take her leave as the fear of changing her mind sweeps it's way over her. ]
