To tell you the truth I'm not very good at gift shopping and I'm having a bit of trouble right now. [There's a small sigh]

How does the sixteenth fare for you? Good? Bad? Perhaps the twenty-third if that will not do.

The twenty-third sounds fine, most places would be closed the next two days due to the holiday so going before seems like a good plan to me.
