[Ingrid's sitting in a small coffee shop, hands around a steaming mug. She's looking rather perkier than usual.]

It looks as though I've missed quite a few event this last week or so. I apologize, but it seems you younger folk weren't so bad at taking care of it. Even though two of you were kidnapped. [A pause as she sips her drink.] Are you two alright, by the way? I'd hate to hear two of my potential students are still shaken by the events.

Yes, students. It seems the local high school has given me a teaching position. I'm to take over a few science classes. I do hope to see many of you there. [Her tone implies that's more of an expectation than a hope.]

I'm also a little concerned that they allowed me the job considering my lack of credentials in this world. Have any of the rest of you encountered something like this yet?

It's a legal term. It's when you take someone to court over something, nowadays usually something stupid and meaningless, to try to win money out of them for some perceived wrong doing.

Y'know, we're past "eye for an eye" where I'm from in terms of civilization, but I'd rather regress to that than evolve into what you're talkin' about.

Just wait until you hear what some of the well known cases are. We've had everything from a woman suing over coffee being hot to someone trying to sue himself.

Why would he sue himself? He loses either way. Well, he wins either way too, I guess. Still, that's... peculiar.

It's stupid, that's what it is. I'm pretty sure the case ended up getting thrown out, but the fact it made it to court is baffling.

That's what happens when you get too much technology. People have too much down time and that leads to stupidity.

Oh, I don't have many regrets. If listening to you talk about things turns into one, I think I'd be pretty blessed as far as severity-of-regrets is concerned.

Ha! Well, then settle in. I was born around the end of the second world war, lived through the Cold War, the Vietnam War, and several other fights. I was around when rock and roll started. Ah, but you wouldn't know what that is would you?
