[Some nights, the Dark Hour is noisier than others.]

[While the shadows normally remain silent unless actively attacking those able to wander the dark hour, on this night the port area all but resounds with the shrieks of an all-too familiar shadow. A Visceral Maya, bane of those who find themselves new to Prospero.]

[What's peculiar is that the vocalizations almost sound frustrated or scared, as much as a Shadow can emote such things.]

[And unfortunately for anyone with their phone on-hand, the source of the noise just started getting broadcast over the network. The camera, activated via falling-to-the-ground judging from the angle, shows a man pinning a very displeased Visceral Maya to a building with a stopsign while muttering to himself.]

-n't even die right when I kill 'em, huh? Bah, not like it's the weirdest thi- eh? What's this?

[He keeps the shadow pinned against the building, reaching down to pick up and subsequently peer into the phone as a lazy smile crosses his features.]

Yo. Anyone there?

If you'll stand back, I'd be happy to show you myself.

Hmm? Sure.

[He'll flick the sign and try to push the Maya further away from himself before hopping backwards towards the other man to watch... well, whatever it was that was about to happen.]

[Probably another Servant...Lancer could at least tell he knew what he was doing in a fight. I haven't called you quite as much lately. What do you say we make this worthwhile?]

[There was a flash of light, Lancer noting he didn't need to concentrate quite as much as when he first started. The figure in shining white armor appeared for a moment and held out the spear in his hands, lightning striking down the Maya in one shot.]

It's a little something like that.

[Lancer let out an appreciative chuckle.]

And here I was thinking summoners were old hags with some kind of skeleton-fixation. Not sure what that was, but it worked!

[Briefly, he mused over the identity of the other. Was he another servant? Perhaps, but wielding two spears on top of summoning ability? That was weirder than a certain prideless red knight... Either way, he didn't seem hostile. It wasn't something to worry about.]

I'm not exactly a summoner, actually. That little skill is surprisingly common around here--you'll probably end up being able to do it too.

[Likewise, he didn't seem hostile either. So Lancer saw little problem with confirming his suspicions.]

...Tell me, if I asked what class you were, would that be a question that held any relevance to you?

[An easy-going, light grin crossed Lancer's features.]

It would, but see, assuming we're talking about the same thing? I kinda saw all seven of the faces-to-know - my own mug included - and I can't say I remember you. Well, it's not like time means all that much to our ilk, but..

[He trailed off, the other man probably had more answers than he had assumptions, best to let him speak his piece.]

Fair enough. I assume you'll want me to explain, then--you seem like a decent guy, I don't mind.

Whichever war it is you came from doesn't seem to matter. There are many of us, from several different wars. Mainly the fourth and fifth iterations, as far as I can tell. This city doesn't seem to care about the impossibility regarding who it draws in.

As for me personally, I would be known as Lancer. The fourth Lancer, specifically.

Fuyuki's wars, right? Well, for people who went through an impossibility to fight once already, what's a bit of inter-mingling? I can't say I mind it much, myself.

[He grinned, offering the other Lancer a handshake.]

Not that you'd be able to tell from my little improvisation-of-arms, I guess I'd be something like your successor. The Lancer summoned into the fifth war.

...Y-You're the fifth-...

[That must have been what having one's heart stop in their chest felt like. Lancer froze up for a second or two as this processed--he'd heard a fair amount of the Lancer that came after him from the other Servants of the fifth war, mainly Saber.]

[Most importantly, he knew this Servant's name. And that knowledge was what made him stop cold and stumble over his words.]

[Once he'd recovered, Lancer took the other Servant's hand with an enthusiastic smile.]

I-I never thought I'd get the chance to--well, what I mean to say is that it's really an honor to meet you. More than you probably realize.

[Well. That's an... unexpected reaction. Lancer takes it in stride though, laughing lightly.]

Well, damn. I guess some of the others from the fifth have been chatty about who they crossed swords with, huh?

A little, perhaps. When I gave those from the Fifth my class name, they seemed somewhat...confused. [In the WOW YOU SEEM LESS ANNOYING way.]

Ah, I know your name and haven't given my own, forgive me--it's Diarmuid. Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, first knight of Fianna.

[That much did only seem fair, at least.]

Ha! I'm not surprised, no one in my war seemed to have any sense of humor! [especially not saber. never saber.]

[At Diarmuid's name and title Lancer's eyebrows raised slightly, grin broadening. While he didn't personally know the person standing before him, knowledge from the grail filled in the blanks, and that was enough.]

Of all the places to meet a fellow countryman, and one of the Fianna at that. The honor's mine, Diarmuid.

[He might've been flustered at that, if he hadn't already been careful to regain his composure.]

Really, you flatter me. I never believed I would be able to cross paths with the Prince of Light himself. Honestly, I'd been hoping you would show up here ever since I heard of you from Saber.

Prince of Light? Bah, I'm just a knight. Though if we're talking about the same Saber, I'm sure she'd argue against that point rather fiercely.

Yes, I believe we know the same Saber. To hear her talk one might think you were trying to drive her more insane than Archer does.

Insane? You ask me, it was almost like she pitied him.

I was referring to Gilgamesh. I don't really know your Archer.

Kind of a jerk. No one can figure out what he's thinking. No sense of pride.

Funny, now that I think about it that description sounded like Gilgamesh up until the end.

Neither of them seemed to like bows all that much, that's for certain.

Now I wonder what the other classes have in common. What was your Saber like?

She says she was in both the fourth and fifth wars, so I assume much the same as I remember her; a strong, resplendent knight with just as much power in her words and actions as in her blade.

I've noticed she acts a bit differently than I recall--I suppose that's due to the influence her most recent Master seems to have had on her.

Summoned into two wars? I can't tell if that girl's blessed or cursed.

You'd be a better judge of that than I would. [Dryly, a lazy smirk crossing his features once more.] I don't get the feeling she cares for me very much, you see.

I actually got that impression from a couple of the Servants I spoke to, strangely. I still don't understand it, that's really not the kind of response I had expected.

Well, if I had to guess? It's just a basic difference in how we go about our beliefs. Me? I don't have anything against Saber -- well, I wouldn't mind finishing our fight, but that's just principle.
